I'm looking to buy a new router and need the following features

Latest wireless standards

Able to handle a lot of devices on network simultaneously

Able to adjust priority to certain devices (for example, I would like to limit how much upload or download bandwidth one particular device can use)

Able to block things from the router (like Google ads and trackers/analytics)

Reliably supports network attached storage device

Good security/able to keep the Chinese out (also, no Chinese brands/Chinese chips; prefer not made in China but not sure if that exists)

Decent range, but nothing extreme needed

Minimum of 4 Ethernet ports (10/100/1000)

Works well with streaming things to consoles

NSA chips/monitoring okay

Price isn't an issue.

I recently updated my router to the Netgear R6300v2.0, even supports DD-WRT if you prefer it over the stock Netgear firmware. the R7000 also is supported for DD-WRT

both the R6300 and R7000 have a USB3.0 and USB2.0 port for attached hard drives

price is no option huh?  The nighthawk is a nice router and the high end linksys is supposed to be a nice router.  You could always buy a asa and a wireless controller or buy a sonicwall or go meraki if you wanted to be a bit more secure than your standard run of the mill hardware router/firewall.

This is the one I use at home and at work. Covers all the bases nicely. They also have models that come with the DD-WRT firmware.

That model has got many negative reviews.

Like I said. I use 1 at work and 1 at home for about 8 months now. No complaints. No bad review here.

Hello,

I have been using a D-Link DIR-868L Wireless AC1750 Dual Band Gigabit Cloude Router.   While I've noticed it does run a little warm, I can't say I've seen any problems as a result.

Regards,

    • Microsoft, why can't I just turn off Copilot on my MS account (in order to stop OneDrive from wanting to summarize everything, ahem) in a way that doesn't break OneNote instead?
