Fanaticism bores the hell out of me.

You get a lot of people that think using a mac makes them superiour to other people which is a load of bollocks and tend to look down on pc users a lot which in turn makes the entire mac community look like a bunch of fanboys.

Personally I use a pc and a mac, yes I use the mac more than the pc but pc's definitely do have their good points just like macs have their bad points.

My sentiments exactly. Some of you seem to think that owning a mac is a lifestyle. Are you really that pathetic that you define yourself through the kind of computer that you use? lol

except you can't make up your mind of which to own, Apple Powerbook 12" or new PC? pc or apple, and you go swichity swich all the time :p lol, currently i have a kickass pc, and hopefully getting my powerbook before chrismas :D becuase i like Keldyn have beeen swichity swich but i finally have enf money to own BOTH! BOOYA! 15" 1.25 GHz g4 Apple :D i am happy happy happy happy, hallpy happy man! with that sweet radeon 9600pro moblie graphics card, KICK ASS, HALO ON MY RIDES TO THE USA :D also some ut2k3

I own a 17" iMac, at first I didn't like it but after giving it another chance and getting used to it its my main computer (all this right after building a pc, too, duh). I'm definitely not a fanatic though. When it comes to gaming nothing beats the PC.

I Dunno about me really. I have my Cube Setup, and my iPod. That's all... I do follow Apple Rumours across the web, as well as point Apple products in movies - 2 p!$$ my dad off! - haha! But @ the same time, I am keen to see how Microsoft develops Windows 'Longhorn', I love my Xbox very much :p .. Well, when i can be ass'd 2 play it. Oh, and I can't wait to upgrade my fone to a SonyE P900 in the new year! - I'd say I'm more of a 'typical' guy who is big on Gadgets and Tech and stuff really.. - Altho most days when my gurlfriend has problems with windows, i do kind harp on about 'www.apple.com' being the holy grail for her! ha ha! :p

What Neyo said it's exactly what i inted to say! Switching to Mac really made my computer life easier, and less frustrating! In these therms you could say I'm a mac fanatic!

I love my iMac, my iPod, and i'm planning to sunk more in the apple world, and one last thing... talking about computers owing a Mac is indeed a lifestyle, does anyone of you ever been told "Oh, you use a Mac.... " followed by a look a commiseration? (I hope this last word exists....). Not that I care about what other people thinks of my machine, but sometimes can be frustrating trying to talk about computers.... ;)

i was at one time a mac fanatic but i can say it was because i did not know anything different, so it was semi out of ignorance and semi fear of the unknown...

i learned computing on a mac so i used macs with a passion until exactly about a year ago i got my current job where although i am able to still use a mac, i also must deal with files and peaople using windows as well...

then i broke down and built myself the windows comp you see in my signature because i have always been a gamer, up until recently just console and the occasional mac game that would come out, bit since i built my comp now that i am very familiar with both OS's i must say although the Mac OS still seems more intuitive to me, that XP is not all that bad at all, and i rarely have any problems with my Windows machine at home at all. granted it is streamlined for playing games (i dont even have office installed on it) so theres not much to go wrong.

the only real problem i have with the os's to this day is the mac os is very much "plug n play", not alot to worry about (excpet my stinking hp printers drivers AAARGH) where on my windows machine i am always worrying about if i have the latest drivers and if my bios are up to date, etc. but then once you get used to that its not a big deal at all...

i all admit i even considered making a "reverse switch" to only windows simply from a financial standpoint, but i just simply cannot do it because everything i do as a designer is accomplished much faster and easier on my mac (again it is most likely due to the fact that i learned on them and am more comfortable with them when it comes to design apps) but still, i do love my mac and always will.

i literally only use my windows comp for gaming (okay so i do have photoshop installd onthere as well which by the way opens much faster on my windows machine than my mac), but i do all of my web surfing, online purchasing, financial stuff, on my mac still and always will...

and as strange as it sounds i have always routed for/ felt an alliegance to the underdog, and apple still is the underdog no matter what the ipod or itunes has done for them...

so i have learned to live with both operating systems and i am a betetr person for it as it has given me the understanding that although they are vastly different in alot of areas, they are basically the same as they are both meant for a means to and end. its just a matter of what you are most comfortable with...

My sentiments exactly. Some of you seem to think that owning a mac is a lifestyle. Are you really that pathetic that you define yourself through the kind of computer that you use? lol

You are calling about half the people on this board pathetic bro. Just look at every person who has the exact model of hard-drive down to the the serial number in their sig.

Not just Mac users, PC users can be extremely pathetic in this area also.

twa ha, ya doodz, me gotz me freaken 3 gigamiliion proctor OC'd to like 3.05. ta ha. Ya, meez freakin cool

nope, hate them..

i would probably install Linux on it if i got it as a gift..

they're very pretty tho.. its kinda like going out with a model.. sure, she's hot as f*ck, but can she do math with something other than iMath and without having to ForceQuit the damn thing 58 times?

wow, no offense ... but it really shows you know nothing about macs.

Macs are used in research applications ie Genentech and in other such fields, where some of the most high tech drug development, cosmic calculations, gene manipulations, and not to mention all the pro video/audio, are created.

Please don't state your badly formed opinion as facts

Well said. It's a freakin machine people! If it does what you need it to do, fine. The only time I'll openly defend Apple is against those who obviously don't know what they are talking about. And vice versa. I'll defend a pc against Mac users who don't know anything about windows. The worst is the Mac users who have their head so far up Apples arse it's rediculous. 4OSX.com is probably the worst at that. Jobs is their god, and their Macintosh is the wife. Drives me up the wall.

lol wow thats really funny. But when have you seen a PC fanboy defend a Mac like you Mac users do. I mean they're both just hardware, and maybe what keldyn meant was that you people take stuff just too serious, no one can mention the words Mac and crap at the same time because is like saying ki** the president to you people. everyone just wilds out. I know Macs are good machines but why treat it like is made out of gold, is it because it costs so much? that if someone says something about it is going to break?. I dont get it, pc's are pc's macs are macs, why is there always someone trying to put people that use pcs down?? and it always has to be a Mac fanboy dissing someont that uses windows. Ok we get it you love your mac, just say that theres no need to say stuff about someone who takes pride in OC'ing their pc.

Like i said before i am not a Mac fanatic but i do like the design on their machines, i think is very sleek, not unique but stylish and simple. The software on the other hand i have never used OS X so i cant really say anything about it, just that it "looks pretty", just like xp...

wow, no offense ... but it really shows you know nothing about macs.

Yeah ALL of them...

Take your own advice there...

No offense of course

No, I just think the computer I use determines my penis size.

Also, hard drive space and bandwidth helps.

:p

maybe its just me, but i find SOME mac users very...um... denfensive about macs... if a pc user says mac are gay or something they will just get really p!$$ed of...

having said that i reckon pc users are very uninformed about macs and all they no is just windows and microsoft...

i was in love with apple before buy a mac but that feeling has gone (i am still obessed with apple stuff) since i have switched...for my next computer i will still get a mac though...

and just a question to everyone here:

If longhorn is better than mac os 10.5 (?) will everyone go back to the pc?

No, I just think the computer I use determines my penis size.

Also, hard drive space and bandwidth helps.

:p

I just finished watching 'Pirates Of The Silicon Valley' ... you reminded me, then, of Bill, when he decks that gurl @ the roller disco. 'i bet you have really good bandwidth' .. or something lame!... haha!!!

But when have you seen a PC fanboy defend a Mac like you Mac users do.

have you ever BEEN in the mac forums??

EDIT: oh and if longhorn did turn out to be superior i would definitely switch the next time i upgraded, but as it is i find OSX to be the way to go for me :)

nope, hate them..

i would probably install Linux on it if i got it as a gift..

You are wrong. You won't listen to me, but you are actually wrong.

I used to be a huge mac flamer (look back at some of my older posts and you'll see that im not lying to you...) but then I made myself watch WWDC 2003 with Quicktime.

I was blown away. If you watch someone use OSX you just see the beauty of it - sleek, elegent and everything is thought through.

However, the trouble is the users. they are all zealots (including me), but thats cos the products are so kickass.

The only time my iBook crashed (ever ever ever) was when I messed around with the VGA out and plugged a whole lotta different monitors in. Eventually it didn't like it so froze hard.

also, the G5 CPU (and PPC in general) is far , far better than x86 based CPUs. Look at Mathlab, it's about 2x as fast on a dual 2ghz G5 than a dual xeon 3ghz.

The trouble is that you don't want to listen and you will sit in your own ignorance (like me) until you have a good hard look at it.

Also, the thing which started my flaming of apple stuff in general was the absolute hideous G4 CPU and OS9. I hate both, and I suppose I can't be a proper apple fanboy until I do like them. That, sadly is never gonna happen :).
