What is it?

 

Lifemate is a note taking app, it's ridiculously simple and fast, it aims to make your life easier by easily allowing you to manage your notes and thoughts.

 

But Lifemate doesn't include ___?

 

Just like my other app, Lifemate isn't intending to compete with other software on a features front, instead, i'm focusing on delivering a gorgeous, simplistic experience for all users so that no matter their knowledge they'll be able to make digital notes.

 

What's not in the preview?

 

You can't search

You can't share notes

No about/settings window

Window controls will be buggy

UI isn't final

 

 

Please post all feedback and suggestions in this thread, the app will receive regular updates which you can download directly from the app.

I use Licecap or Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 Screen Capture and then upload with Gfycat :)

I don't have a lot of use for the actual application you wrote but I really like your aesthetic design style. I kind of wish the entire Shell32.dll was re-written to include GUI elements in your style, it's very, very good.

Some changes since my last post
 
Aero colour is gone, this is due to lots of difficulties with it as it has to look correct and easily readable with multiple themes on top of complex animations and blurs.
Search is in - Tap the search button and type, your notes will instantly pop up.
Better images - Notes no longer have a top bar, instead they appear when you scroll down, this allows for bigger and better images.
Lots of little UI tweaks.

Tapping images will make them fill the app.

What text editor component are you using? I've been using the default WPF RichtTextEditor in an app of mine, but I've never been happy about its performance (when typing, characters appear with some delay).

Currently I'm just using a text box (hence the plain text), but I hope to move to a different control soon, you're right about the richtexteditor's performance, its dreadful hence why I'm not currently using it.

I just tried it out. You have a great eye for UI design! It's very balanced and the animations are a nice touch. This is exactly what I like in software: functional eye-candy :)

 

Small thing I noticed: the top-left and top-right menu's don't close when the mouse is clicked somewhere else in the UI. he user has to click on the button to close them.

Versions

 

Versions makes automatic copies of your notes, you'll be able to go back in time and access earlier versions of your notes thanks to this handy feature.

 

 

Smart Count

 

Smart Count counts the amount of words and characters in your note, but with a twist, smart count will popup when you need it, for example, when you select text it'll show you the amount of words and characters in the selection.

P2 brings a drastically redesigned user interface for Lifemate, along with a ton of new and creative features.

Lifemate has been redesigned to put your notes at the forefront of the app.

 

 

 

 

TAGS

 

Tags are a replacement for journals, tags are better as you can have a single note span across multiple tags, making categorising your notes easier than ever.

 

 

 

 

 

JUMPLIST

 

An easy to reach "New Note" task has been added to Lifemate's jumplist so you can easily create a note right from your taskbar.

 

 

 

 

 

INSTANT SEARCH

 

Tap the Search button and you'll be able to instantly search your notes.

 

 

 

VERSIONS

 

Tap the Versions button and you'll be able to go back in time and access the history of your note.

 

 

 

 

HEARTED NOTES

 

Hearted notes are your favourite, most important notes. Tap the Heart icon and your note will zip to the top of the list. Hearted Notes also have their own category so you can see just the notes most important to you.

 

 

 

SHARE TO TWITTER

 

Select some text from your note and you'll be given the option to Tweet it. It's pretty darn simple.

 

 

 

NOTE INFO

 

Important information about your note will be displayed at the bottom of your note.

Just noticed a very very small issue. When changing the background color to dark, the content of the window controls change to white (as expected). But when changing back to the light background, the content of the window controls stay white, which makes them invisible until hovered. Restarting the app fixes that though.

I made a crappy screenshot to explain :) I'm not sure how I should call the "content" (icon, label, ...?). Anyway, here it is:
