it gets so bad in chrome that the page wont even scroll

my specs

nvidia 780

16gb mem

windows 8.1

It sounds like it should improve your situation once it's stable. It still has lots of parts not implemented yet.

Also have you tried disabling hardware acceleration, might be a GPU/driver issue with Chrome.

Thanks, been having this issue too, also terrible stability issues with my ATi HD 5450, with the latest AMD Catalyst drivers (in the v14 range) the driver crashes frequently and I've even had video freeze across the top of my screen :/ only way to get rid of it is to log off and on again in Windows.

ATM I am just thinking of swapping it out for my Nvidia 560 GTX, the only reason I used the ATi in my new build was for lower power consumption, because I don't game anymore and don't really need the NVidia card and extra noise the fans make. I may look online a bit more for the issue I am having with the ATi card.

The 14.9 drivers are horrible - I personally still use the 14.7 RC3 drivers until its addressed.

Yeah that's what I'm using (14.9) but their uninstaller is also really bad, it just reinstalls the latest driver again lol.

I found out that by disabling chromes builtin flashplayer pepperflash, helped with slow loading gifs.

which dont make sense seeing flash player dont play gifs, am I correct?

Yeah... It doesn't make sense.

I also found on Google when searching loading gif issue about this solution. e.g.; http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16874065/gif-images-in-chrome-loading-slow-and-or-other-problems

Although Lifehacker aslo mention this addon: http://lifehacker.com/gif-delayer-eliminates-choppy-animations-to-play-gifs-a-1528157941

Didn't try it yet though...

    • I moved back to Firefox. While uBlock Origin can still be made to work with tricks in Vivaldi 8.1, the writing is on the wall and it is for Brave too. It's an impossible battle to stake your own future when you rely on a third party engine, especially when that third party is largerly an advertisement company. I don't agree with everything Mozilla does either, but at least they aren't the same kind of company and interests as Google.
    • Sadly, yes. Unless MS brings back some kind of satiety to their QA departments, we will keep seeing generally released patches in a beta state with larger enterprise customers being forced to delay just to avoid issues...which is arguably worse for security than if they patches just came out a little later.
