uhm... i really liked the screenie on the first page more than the newest one. is there a way to get this alpha stadium back for me? :D i love the taskbar from your first screenshot... much better than the new one. and this tiny leds dont look that good... would leave them simply away. but... well, maybe i think of the wrong theme, since this is designed to be more winamp-centered. hmmm... want this old one :D

ok, there will be a delay...because umm lol my StyleBuilder 2 beta expired... and i can no longer use it. I installed version 1 and for some reason i get an error message saying "your visual style cannot be applied. Unknown Property"

anyone know how to fix it? thanx.

edit: oh and also, that last screenshot is not acually final. buttons at the top will be changed and of course the font and ect will change, oh yea u might of also noticed no Inactive titlebars... thats on the way too, lol :) that was just a preview of whats to come. those 2 titlebars are not very exciting as the others you havent seen.

yea, thanx, i figured... well anyways i have to re-add bmps/pngs and re-add values from styleBuilder 2 to Stylebuilder 1.

.....I'm almost done with that, so thats a good news.

In addition I finally fixed many of the bugs with the new buttons, so they are almost perfect in any resolution or any menu.

beta tests are going fine...almost upto 1.3 release. The only problem we have left is the buttons... there are some problems with the sizing and text on differnt windows, but that will be fixed eventually. Other then that, No serious bugs found. I still need the permission from Nullsoft or Sven.

In additionI need some help from anyone who knows how to do this...

I need to disable hover over the logoff buttons/shutdown buttons (not sure if thats possible) and i need to disable the box around the selected button.(those small pixels makng a square- when the button is selected).

Anyways i'm done with another color scheme, its called City Night, I'll post a screenshot later today. (i'm in college now)

Another thing, is i will be redisiging the taskbar buttons, because... well they look ugly, i will make them more sexier, I'm not sure if i will leave the leds there or not, but we'll c.

one or two more experienced beta testers needed so PM me.

also if anyone can help me reach Sven who designed the modern skin....setvoFC...n00dle? :)

ahhh... this is so totally gonna rock dude!

thank you, you make me very happy...

can't wait for release and keep up the good work...

p.s. I don't like the LEDs on the taskbar, they don't fit in with everything else... I think it would be better if you leave them out or better yet, change them so they look like the LEDs from the start menu

    • Alpine Linux 3.24 released with support for COSMIC Desktop and other improvements by David Uzondu Alpine Linux 3.24 has been released with updated system packages, including Linux kernel 6.18 and Rust 1.96. The team also added IPv6 support to the system installer, and they introduced automatic serial console configuration for headless setups. System76's COSMIC desktop environment is now available in the community repo. System76 originally started building this DE because its developers found GNOME to be pretty limited. Plus, it did not help that with virtually every GNOME update, the changes broke System76's custom desktop extensions. As for system packages, the Alpine team moved GTK+ 3.0 from the main repository to the community repository due to its legacy status. py3-setuptools has been upgraded to version 82.0.0, while the old pkg_resources module has been completely dropped. The team also removed outdated packages that still relied on py3-six and GTK+ 2.0. In addition to that, libsoup 2 has been removed because the library was affected by multiple security vulnerabilities. If you're a GRUB user, the Alpine Team said that you must manually run the grub-install command with your specific device or EFI options right after upgrading your system, otherwise, your computer may fail to boot properly with the newly updated GRUB 2.14 bootloader. New installations of Alpine Linux now offer an optional path to a /usr-merged directory layout if you set the BOOTSTRAP_USR_MERGED environment variable to 1 before you execute the setup-disk command. If you already run an older installation, you can migrate manually by installing the merge-usr package and executing its binary as the root user. The team recommends this layout to align Alpine with modern Linux standards, though you should verify your custom scripts before making the switch. Alpine Linux is a pretty tiny (~5MB) Linux distro built around musl libc, BusyBox, and OpenRC. It's been around since 2005, comes with its own package manager called Alpine Package Keeper (APK), and is widely used in modern cloud computing and software deployment.
