Antigen
Hi, yesterday I have registered a new account on Outlook. Like: name_surname@outlook.com Today I sent some email to a friend, but he can't send me any email, he use an email of a french provider and he receive a DELIVERY ERROR if he send an email to my new address. I ask to try to send to another address and all is ok. My question is: - Underscore is recognized correctly from all the mail system or is better don't use it? Thanks Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1244122-email-with-underscore-why-i-cant-receive/ Share on other sites

TAZMINATOR
Ask the sender to try again and see. I have no problem with underscore addresses these years since I got on the internet first time in the past. Antigen
I had read that RFC allow underscore not username. he provider, when he asked, tell that underscore is not allowed and for that he can't send email and is a bad idea using this symbol into an username. Possible?! Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1244122-email-with-underscore-why-i-cant-receive/#findComment-596727666 Share on other sites

Shiranui
The standards for valid email addresses are incredibly permissive. An underscore should not be controversial at all. Tell your friend to tell his email provider to learn how to configure an email server, or get out of the business. The_Decryptor Veteran Posted January 23, 2015 Veteran Share Posted January 23, 2015 Their email provider sucks, as Shiranui said the address format is extremely permissive, there's a reason browsers only check whether it has a @ in it. Antigen
It has tried to tell them, but their support tell that underscore is not used a valid symbol. But... I remember that in the first time, when there are the first email provider, the underscore is the most used and suggest separator symbol, especially on Lotus software. Or I'm wrong?
