The thing is, right now it's a new movie, and sure it's a good popcorn movie.

but the original is over 30 years, old and still stands out as a good movie with good effects and a classic that people will remember.

This is a good movie in the same sense the new robocop and Total Recall movies where, they where great popcorn flicks. but do you really remember them today? and they're not that old yet. will you remember the new Ghostbusters movie in 30 years ?...

Had it not released those horrible trailers, it might have done well as a cinema movie, but let's not pretend it would have been a ghostbusters classic that would have revived the name and franchise and lived on in the memories of people for years and years, and sold merchandise and re-releases for decades.

It could have with a better script. The actors are good enough to pull it off but the script wasnt really all there. You will remember this as much as you do ghostbusters 2.   A lot of potential but it falls flat as far as a movie that would carry a franchise.

I dunno. I still remember Vigo and the painting, even if he's not as iconic as the marshmallow man. But this one... in 30 years, people will still remember Vigo as the lesser GB after the Marshmallow man, but this will be forgotten even if it's half the age...  I mean, the stepped on police cars with the statue of liberty damn it :p

The script is... well it's about as basic get people in the seats as it gets. with the most superficial stereotypical characters they could make...  which reeks of irony when you think of it.  but I don't care about that aspect anyway.

In the End though, it'll be remember as a regluar action movie that could have been so much more, that was double let down by sony. Firstly by not bothering to make a better script, and secondly for their horrible marketing, which killed it's cinema potential

Hello everyone...

here is the news of Rick Moranis

Have a great day, everyone...

This was posted ages ago.

I've no idea why that site is trying to pass it off as new.

Well I don't want to beat a dead horse but this movie is a flop, I don't see how anyone can spin it otherwise.  And I hope this puts an end to this whole forced reboot craze that Hollywood has had going as of late, I think a number of other reboots of classic movie hits have also flopped.

Here are the numbers as of today....

$144 million Budget,  figure for, say, $50million in marketing (could be more though), so that's $194 million spent, it's made a little over $208 million world wide, take into account that the studio/theater split is 50%, Sony has only gotten $104 million back from this movie.  Only way it would've made money is if it hit $380-$400million world wide, which it'll never do in it's wildest dreams.

This movie should've never happened, and it also, on a different topic, shows that positive critic reviews can't save a movie either if the audience doesn't care for it or agree with them, yet again the critics lose as we've seen time and again that the movie going audience will watch what they want to watch regardless of the RT scores and so on, (suicide squad).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghostbusters_(2016_film)#Potential_sequel   indeed

After its opening weekend, Sony's president of worldwide distribution, Rory Bruer, told The Wrap that "while nothing has been officially announced, there's no doubt in my mind [a sequel] will happen." He also said that Ghostbusters is expected to become an important Sony franchise.[122] The principal cast and director had signed on for two sequels.[62] Plans are underway for an animated film set for a 2019 release, and an animated television series.[62]

On August 10, 2016, The Hollywood Reporter expressed doubts of a sequel due to tepid box office performance.[62][64] Box office analyst Jeff Bock wrote, "I just can't fathom the creative talents behind it — [Paul] Feig, [Melissa] McCarthy, [Kristen] Wiig, etc — slogging out another one when the reception to the first one was so mediocre."[62] Entertainment Weekly pointed out that Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are not contractually obligated to appear in a sequel, further complicating sequel plans.[123]

    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
    • The term "RTM" is long gone starting with Windows 10. Every current release is a GA build. This is the result of MS making Windows as a Service (WaaS).
