Server 2012. Server Manager as Standard User (least privilege)

Recommended Posts

Hi im trying to use a standard domain user account to monitor domain controllers, Ive ran the command

Enable-ServerManagerStandardUserRemoting -User Doamin.Local\Account

Considering there's a powershell command id tend to believe there's a way to make this work, The documentation for Enable-ServerManagerStandardUserRemoting

Provides one or more standard, non-Administrator users access to event, service, performance counter, and role and feature inventory data for a server that you are managing by using Server Manager.

So this should do exactly what it says on the tin.

Have you restarted the DC? I'm pretty sure that command makes a change to the user rights assignment list. which generally, needs a reboot to re-enumerate the assignment lists.

That said I've not tried allocating to a standard user before.
