Hello!

First of all, I hope I post this in right place.

Yesterday, I don't know how, after restart, browsing of many pages looks different.

Something happened but not sure, looks like certain font, default font of all browsers is corrupted or something like that.

I attach pictures, You see font of Facebook is different and ugly. letters are smaller, I didn't change size of font nor page zoom. Zoom is 100% and size of font is like it was always. I didn't touch it. My favorite browse ris maxthon but this is in all browsers like: Chrome, Opera, Internet Explorer.

I tried maybe to rebuild font folder via TewakUI but no help.

What you think what is going on?

I'm not sure what font was default of browsers.

Can you help me restore it before I reinstall WIndows. I don't like this view of fonts, especially knowing it's in most sites like Google, WIkipedia, Newoin and others who use this font. Other oages who use different font looks OK that means because they don't use default font? And almost I forgot, this happened in some softwares also. Not in browsers only. So I'm guessing it's corrupted or maybe deleted font. I didn't de;lete any font, I don't remember when I visited FONTS folder in CONTROL PANEL.

I know, I installed and uninstalled some programs but this font thing never happened to me.

Because I use WIndows Server I can't use System Restore so this option is dead in this case.

Sorry for my english!

Thank you!

I set mine to Comic Sans, and then sometimes when that becomes to hard to read, wingdings.

Looks like you're downloading some cruddy renames as well, ugh.

Have you made any changes on your system lately? Theme packs, mods, dick around with some server settings?

Why the server OS? You do realise the client versions use the same kernel..

What version of Windows are you running? TweakUI is only meant for XP or lower and it'll either have no effect on newer releases, or break things.

I'm assuming it's an old version, because it looks like GDI font rendering (Because it's so ugly), and it looks like the default font has been replaced with something that GDI doesn't like.

I'm having the exact same issue which started today too.

My OS is Vista & initially both Chrome and FF had the issue. I used the 'Refresh Firefox' option which seemed to fix it, but chrome is still broken.

I installed windows updates yesterday, but I don't know if that would be the issue.

Same here now.

I thought it was because I just made the switch from Firefox to Chrome.  But I am seeing a different font as well.  Not sure if I like it - it makes text look like a printer that is running out of ink.

I am going to try and run the font utility and see if that fixes it.

(using win7)

UPDATE:

Its KB3013455 - uninstalled it and rebooting fixed for most - I am trying it now

Seems to have fixed it!

Thanks so much for replies. Yeah, yesterday I downloaded and installed Windows updates and seems to be this reasosn since I'm not alone with this issue. I forgot to mention my OS is old Windows Server 2003 (I prefer it for some reasons). I don't like new OS's but I have to use Windows 8 or 10 when browsers won't support XP and 2003.  I wish I use 2003 or XP for whole life. titter.gif

P. S. meow!, Candara font looks good. Maybe I find it for free. emotion-5.gif

So now I try to uninstall KB3013455  update and let see what happens.

Yes, it's OK now but update not removed (at least not for Server 2003).

So now I refused to install it and I prevented to ask me again.

Thank you all for help. fob5ezvgxdyg.gif

....I'd upgrade to a newer version of Windows if you don't want incompatibility problems going forward.

    • Apple CEO Tim Cook confirms looming price hikes due to memory shortages by Hamid Ganji Image via Apple Memory and chip shortages have led to significant price increases for electronics over the past year, and it seems that more hikes are on the way for upcoming smartphones and computers. Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that the company is planning to increase the prices of some of its products due to the ongoing memory and storage shortages. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Cook confirmed the looming price hikes for Apple’s future products, adding that “Unfortunately, price increases are unavoidable.” He also said the company is doing its best to “mitigate the huge increases that are being passed to us, and we’ve been trying to shield our customers from the increases, but the situation has become unsustainable.” The Apple CEO also noted that the allocation of a large portion of memory chips to AI companies has contributed to shortages in the market, resulting in lower supply at a time when demand for devices remains high. “We definitely need memory pricing and supply to return to reasonable levels for consumer products. That’s the bottom line,” Cook said. Cook also added that Apple is ready to use its vast cash reserves to help boost supply in the market because additional production capacity is needed. While he declined to specify how Apple plans to do that, he said the company will not build its own memory and storage factories despite its financial resources and silicon expertise. Cook did not provide further details on the scale of the price increases or which Apple products would be affected, though iPads and Macs could see higher prices sooner than other products. Apple’s next product launch event is scheduled for September, when the company is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone. It remains unclear whether the upcoming iPhones will be affected by the price increases, but given the current memory shortage, higher prices seem increasingly likely. There is currently no clear timeline for the end of the memory shortage. Samsung, one of the world’s three largest memory chip manufacturers, recently said the shortage could persist for several more years.
    • Downloads does not equal actual usage, even less when the app is pre-installed in some Galaxy phones.
    • +1000 to this, don't understand why they added that margin around the top bar, even the close button is a PITA to click without aiming. Ofc, this is just preview and hopefully they will revert such odd UX decision before hitting final version.
    • so the people who bought this will get a refund?
