cuz the odds of you being in a store, during business hours, with a raging fire must mean there are dozens, if not hundreds of eye witnesses - not to mention more cameras than can be counted....and you think this would be the most ideal opportunity to become a thief??

 

That ranks up there with just handing over your ID while stealing things.

with the speed at which a fire can take hold and totally destroy a building and everything in it, i'm sure most people would just flee.

Depends what sort of shop.

 

If it's a supermarket, and I have a shopping trolley full of food, and there's no particular rush, and other people are wheeling theirs out, I probably would do the same... perahps.

 

If it's a high street store, I'd just leave.

Lots of variables, but fires can spread extremely rapidly, so I'd probably run and grab anyone hesitating.
