Cisco 887 as a Bridge to ASA

For testing I want to configure a Cisco ASA. I have an ADSL Line with a statically assigned IP. I want to use a Cisco 887 as a Modem or as some people call it "Dumb Mode" so that the ASA gets the IP address on the External Interface, Because the ASA doesn't have an ADSL Modem/Port  :laugh:  The ADSL is PPPOA, I have set the Dialer up on the 887 to connect and provide the username and password etc. It works fine this way on the 887. i.e I can connect to the internet from it fine. 

 

This is a drawing of how I want to set it up.

 

I think I need to use bridging but I have never used this before, Is this correct? Anyone know how I would go about doing this?

Who says its impossible, sounds like what your wanting it half bridge mode. Where you login to your PPPoE stuff and it hands the public IP to device behind you. Can you do it with cicsco 887? Not sure but that is common setup to be sure.

Yeah thats exactly what I want to do but its its not PPPoE Its PPPoA that's the issue I think. The ISP is purely PPPoA.

 

Are you 100% they will not accept PPPoE?  I use a number of ISP's who state they use PPPoA, but still will accept PPPoE which is just as well.  At the time we used Cisco 877 routers with Linksys/Draytek xDSL modems in front.

      Sounds like you just skimmed over the review, I answer all those questions in it. Although I admit I did not test if DTS works over the headphones, when I get some time I will test this. My personal use case is more speaker-driven (I cover this in the review too).

      It actually does the same exact thing as yours, 7.1 virtual surround over headphones. From the product page: "Experience sound that surrounds you with 7.1 virtual surround, delivering a wider, more immersive soundstage for movies, games, and music." So both of them are two channel, with 7.1 virtual surround that only work in Headphones mode.
