Air Jordan 11 Retro Overrated?

Recommended Posts

I personally think so. 3 Out of every 5 People (Sneaker Crazy People) have'em. Whenever I see someone wearing'em, the first thought that comes to my mind is that; The person must have stood in line for hours to get them. And the person must have plenty of free time and got nothing else to do with his/ her life. I think when you have something that is too common then its value goes away. Not only retro Jordans' like 11 are too Overrated, Outdated but can also be seen frequently on streets. Those who love these, worship them like some god's gift :p But personally I think they aren't that special.

Any thoughts? Moans? Comments?

11s (OG colorways) are probably the most sought after shoes to sneakerheads (others being 1s and 3s). You can't say they're "overrated" because they're most often regarded as the most beautiful, and are like collectables. Part of history worn by the GOAT. And as to AJs, they trend and are at the top of fashion items.

Also you don't need to be in line for them, you just need money. Like most fashion items. They are "signs" of wealth/status/trendiness/"swag".

I wish I had a pair of AJ1 Breds.

Sounds like a First World problem to me. I usually spend about 15-20 bucks on a pair of sneakers at Target and get about a year out of them. Of course I'm nearing 50 years on the planet and have figured out what really matters in terms of spending money on. And it's not a $375 pair of shoes!

Oh to be young and stupid.

I think anything retro that has found it's way back into "fashion" circles is terrible.

You are bringing back the look of cheap, outdated, production processes and style.  It makes you look cheap and outdated.

That's not even factoring in the money grubbing price.

I'm clearly in a minority with this opinion though, as I know many people caught up in the Air Jordan, Air max retro craze.

People have to spend money on something though, I'm sure a lot of Air Jordan aficionados would deride my purchasing of multiple guitars.

OG 11's are never overrated. One of the best looking Jordan's ever made. My personal favorites that I also own are the 4's, 5's, 6's, and 10's. I am a big Michael Jordan, Chicago a bulls fan, although my heart belongs to the Los Angeles Lakers. I grew up watching that era of basketball during the 80's and 90's.

I just dropped a grand on a single gpu, maybe we're all crazy :/

Nah, just shows that we all love and appreciate different things. Nothing wrong with spending your money how you want. I spent $650 on my GTX 980 without thinking twice.

Not a big fan of the 11s at all. The last decent Jordan made was the 6. The future is a cool looking shoe too.

Sneakerheads all have their 'grails' though. For me it is actually the Adidas ZX8000 in the original colourway. I prefer a running shoe.

Basketball boots such as Jordans have a limited following in the UK. We prefer runners such as the Air Max 1 and 90, Roshe Run, Flyknit Racer etc etc over here.

    • They've told outlets who got review units that it isn't. Partially because they believe that contributes to closed ecosystems. GamersNexus also believes this is because Valve's fighting a monopolistic practices lawsuit in Europe right now. They've also never subsidized any of their past hardware efforts and well, they definitely aren't subsidizing the Steam Deck right now.
    • How do you know they aren't at least partially subsidizing it?
    • (macOS) Screen zoom was broken for me in beta 1 and it's now working properly in beta 2. In terms of performance and UI design/consistency, these betas are already much better than Tahoe.
    • Less powerful than a PS5 at twice the price! I wonder if they use that for marketing? Totally DoA.
