I hate my Android and I am looking to get a new Windows phone.

I am looking for a phone that is decent but not super expensive that has a 5 inch screen and good battery life. I liked this Nokia 930 international listed at Amazon

However, it looses a lot of battery life and I need LTE bands as I am in the united states.

Hello,

If you can hold off for a few months, I would suggest doing so.  Microsoft has announced that Windows Mobile 10 will not launch at the same time as Windows 10 for desktops, but when it does it will have features that require new hardware.  If you can wait, you will be able to get a device which supports all of Windows Mobile 10's new features.

Regards,

Aryeh Goretsky

I really like my Lumia 1020 but the charging port is getting a bit screwy.. so I've been seriously considering a 640XL (it's a bit big but the extra mAH you can fit in there is practical).

I'd love to wait for a flagship 1080p device to appear.. but who knows how long they will make us wait for that.

I've been using WP since it first launched and the 930 has provided me with the best device experience so far, that being said some of the lower end devices have pretty positive reviews.  Either way as the guys above have said i'd be holding off till 10 launches, should see a range of new devices coming out with it.

I've been tempted to offer my HTC One M8 up for trade for the Windows Phone edition. It's damn fine hardware, but Android being what it is, is real hit and miss. And I'm on Verizon so my options are limited. I think the One M8 Windows Edition is the best Windows Phone I have access to. But then I got a ROM I'm really happy with. So I think I'm gonna hang with the little green robot until my Verizon contract is up, and then I'll see what my options are on T-Mobile, which I'm planning on switching to. Next June. I think by then, with W10M out for ~9 months, we'll see if the WP/WM scene is better or worse. If it isn't better, maybe it deserves to sink, but I'd like to see it chip away at Android and iOS and give us competition three ways rather than 2, or 1.5 if you consider Samsung's place on Apple's back...

Before you make the switch, see if you can try a friends windows phone and check the apps you need. When people talk of the "app gap", it's doesn't just mean apps that aren't on the WP platform, it also means the apps on WP are not complete and/or missing critical features you may need. So actually download them, and check them out. Example: i had to go back to android from a nokia 1020 since the facebook messenger app was just not even comparable to the ios and android variants. I found the same thing with other apps to that just did not have the fit and finish of the other ecosystems. If the apps you use/need are suffienecnt on WP, like others have suggested, hang in there for just a couple more months and you will see the new line up with new hardware and new features such as Continuum.

Got a 820 off my sister. It's not too bad. Just waiting for a charging shell, a higher capacity battery and a charging pad to come from Ebay.

And will probably buy a solar charger for it. And the Ipod.  Save me using the power to charge it (If I dont use the pad)

Only had one prob with it a few weeks ago. I couldnt txt or add my hotmail addy because the L and K keys when I pressed them, selected the wrong letters

But managed to fix that. Brought a replacement digitizer off Ebay

I did have a few androids. The 1st 2 were crap lol. Not enough space, I couldnt update the apps. The 3rd was OK at least it had 4 GB on it. But I cracked the screen :/

May get another android. Since I may get some wifi cameras for this place. And the only apps available are android apps

    • If the drive/memory is soldered to the board, which it probably is, then it's a no from me

    • We do it all the time on our IT Service desk mailbox to add a reference, in the subject line, once it's been logged and then it's filed into the appropriate sub-folder. Other companies probably do the same thing.
    • "No. The "New Outlook for Windows" does not support non-cloud mailboxes (such as on-premises Exchange servers). Furthermore, because the New Outlook effectively functions as a web-based client, it requires all connected accounts—even standard IMAP or POP accounts—to route and cache data through Microsoft's cloud servers. You can verify the accepted account setups using the Microsoft Supported Account Types Guide." Built to fail "New" Outlook is basically just webmail in a window wrapper and it's usefulness reflects that.
