Hi there does anyone know how to remove Perflib_Perfdata :( files from windows temp folder and stop them reappearing.

Thanks

Using Task Manager Processes I found something called TMListen.exe and when I ended this process it automatically removed the Perlib_Perfdata file from the C:\Temp folder.

That would only be so for those created by that software (don't know what TMListen.exe is), but other software also generate Perflib_Perfdata files (on my system, for example, Office pro XP and Diskeeper. They are related to system performance monitoring. You can delete the ones not in use in the current session, if they aren't deleted on reboot. They don't do any harm.

More info here, including some suggestions to stop system performance monitoring if you really want to do that (bear in mind that there may be good reasons why some apps monitor the system):

You can use unlocker to see which app is using a given Perflibfile:

Reply "remove perflib_perfdata"

This is an ATI Display Driver. Remove your Display adapter driver and you can remove the file. The file is two parts

1)The first part is perflib_perfdata_a4

2)The second part is perflib_perfdata_987

You will see these numbers or any number, because this file give itself random numbers when you delete it in this way: press Ctrl Alt Del, and select the file cli.exe that is your ati driver, then end process and it can be deleted now. The end process has 2 files one written in capital letter at the beginning and the second is at the end in small letter, because sometimes as I said you will have in your local setting Temp two perflib_perfdata files. Restart your PC and they both returns but in different numbers.

As I told you and the people who are interested, if you want to delete the file you have to remove your ATI VGA or display driver from the control panel. When you do this re-enter the temp folder and you can delete both of them. If you re-install your VGA drive only one of them appears. The second file can be removed if you uninstall your catalyst controller ATI driver found also in control panel. When you restart your computer it will be lost by itself because it is a stand by file that is similar to the windows 98 reminder.

Considering all the madness written in this web about removing the file is nonsense. None of the written documents is professional or even beginners in the PC world. These are chatting cheats and not worth any attention, and if you try to listen to their solvings you will crash your windows specially when you download the software that cleans you registry that is the most useful place for your software. The registry is not a game, it updates all your software and all the registry software are useless.

Bye!

^ This has got nothing to do with ATI.

perflib stands for Performance Library and perfdata means Performance Data. This data is accumulated using the Performance Logs and Alerts service, and by default, are created by the System Monitor. Other apps may also take advantage of this to monitor the system performance.

They don't cause any harm, but may tend to get accumulated due to improper shutdowns or process kills. You can delete them if you want to, but there's no reason to unless you're *really* running out of space.

    • I think its a great thing, whoever messes with my msgs is going to be real bored. Even those who dont trust meta, like myself, if the gains translate into an improved communication, easiness, everyone will use it. The alternative is not use Meta Whatsapp since they will AI your msgs an resume it anyways

    • Backpack Hero and Figment are free to claim on the Epic Games Store by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The Epic Games Store has just refreshed its weekly giveaways promotion, and there are two games up for grabs this time. Replacing the Sable freebie from last week, Backpack Hero and Figment have now landed for all PC gamers to claim. As always, you have seven days to add the latest indie game permanently to your Epic Games Store library. From the double giveaway, Backpack Hero comes in from indie developer Jaspel, offering a unique inventory management roguelike experience. Aside from collecting items to maximize the potential of a run, like with other roguelikes, here, your placement of the item in the backpack also matters. Each run offers randomly generated dungeons, enemies, and loot to grab. Next, Figment lands from Bedtime Digital Games. This isometric perspective action adventure game takes place in a surreal landscape with hand-drawn artwork, and everything is taking place inside a mind. You take the role of Dusty, the former voice of courage in the mind. The musical adventure involves trying to return Dusty to his old self while also helping the mind beat back its nightmares and restoring its original purpose. The Figment and Backpack Hero giveaways on the Epic Games Store are now active, and they will last until July 10. When not on sale, both games come in at $19.99 to purchase, but PC gamers can add the duo to their library for no cost during the seven-day timeframe. When the giveaways refresh next week, Epic Games plans on giving away two more games: the next musical adventure, Figment 2: Creed Valley, as well as the classic arcade-inspired shoot’em up Sky Racket.
