yeah please if you could send me the imgs, i too am not that good at img editing. i can replace the files.

to anyone who wants a mirror, i have put it on my webspace (unsure about bandwidth and speed - its only ntl), though the first link still works on the first page, you just take out the extra http//.

mirror here

1) download resource hacker

2) open the gant shell32 in which u like the avis

3) click on the avi folder

4) extract the avis u want to replace in the other gant shell32 to some place on the comp first

5) open the other gant shell32

6) replace the avis with the avis u like

*Note* The IE download avi is in shdocvw.dll

copy steps from 2 to 5

I've successfully installed these icons however I have a tiny problem.

I like to have lan status icons in my system tray (you know the ones, two little monitors and each flashing depending on incoming and outgoing traffic) but with the Gant mod both screens are blue when the connection is static. When it is in use they both turn grey. I would have thought it would make more sense the other way round : grey = inactive and blue = active.

Does this happen with anyone else or is it just me?

Can anyone tell me how to swap it round? I just loaded up Shell32.dll into reshacker but there's like a bajillion entries in there and manually searching for it is gonna take a lifetime :(

Am I even looking at the right dll?

OK, fixed the AVI's. The shell32.dll is now 31mb instead of 29, and the shdocvw.dll is 2.73mb istead of 2.53. If anyone wants them and can host, lemme know, I'll RAR them and send it. All I did was replace the AVI's from Hidro's large dll pack w/ the AVI's from the small dll pack, I think they look much cleaner, and appear to be a higher frame rate.

    • For some reason when EU forced Microsoft to allow users to change the default browser and search provider in Windows (also no ads for Office and the likes) - it was good. But when it comes to Apple - then it's bad. BTW, Apple would have gone out of business if Microsoft wasn't pressed by US government several decades ago. 😉
    • I understand Microsoft's intention here, at least I think I do. There have been so many printer driver related problems over the years due to OEM printer drivers not be compatible with the latest Windows update, that Microsoft wants to eliminate those by controlling the printer driver updates and keeping them compatible with the latest Windows update. That is okay as far it goes, but what it can do is put limitations on printers that wouldn't be there with OEM drivers since the OEM printer drivers are not universal drivers. It's a tradeoff and one can only hope it doesn't turn all Windows printers into $69 Brother printers.
