Help me choose a GPU

Hi all.

 

Working on my new build.  So far I have a i5 6600K, 16GB DDR4, however my choice is on the GPU within budget my options are

 

. 4GB EVGA GTX970 4GB SSC 

 

. 4GB XFX Radeon R9 380DD

 

This build is for gaming, I mainly play on games like Fallout 4, ESO, and am hoping to play Doom 4 and the upcoming Elder Scrolls VI. I play games at 2560x1080 21:9.

no brainer for me - the 970. Im sure that Radeon is good, too.

380?! That and 970 are not even in the same ballpark, price and performance. Perhaps you meant 390?

 

In that case, both are great. My personal preference would be the 970, but you won't go wrong with any of them.

Why these two choices?  The 380 is about 120 bucks cheaper and really isn't comparable to the 970 (more like the 960).  If you want the AMD equivalent then you'll need to jump to the 390's which run around the same price.

Decided to jump and skip beer money for a while, and get the 8GB XFX R9 390 DD Black.  My wallet hates me.

i see it on Newegg for "only" $320 after MIR. How much did you pay for it?
