Disable "Adobe Flash Player was blocked because it is out of date" in Chrome

Recommended Posts

I work for a large organisation that uses out-of-date software (presumably because of how long it takes to test new versions).

We are running Chrome 35 (latest is 49) and Adobe Flash Player 13.0.0.214 (latest is 20.0.0.306).

We regularly see "Adobe Flash Player was blocked because it is out of date" in Chrome and keep having to click "Run this time".

Is there a way to permanently allow out-of-date versions of Adobe Flash Player in Chrome 35?

The only reason Chrome (Or Firefox, etc.) will actively block a plugin is if it has security vulnerabilities, Your IT department should be the ones disabling Flash, not mandating the use of vulnerable versions.

Just have your IT Department keep allowing the latest Stable build of Chrome.

It's stable, it comes with flash, and it's not a giant security hole.

Flash is one of the biggest security holes in modern computers, thats why it's it's blocked when it's out of date. Every month there is a new exploit found and used in it.

It's the NHS.

Anyway, since we're all just clicking "Run this time" anyway, is there a way to always allow it (to stop it appearing on many webpages)?

Uninstall it.

    • Too late for a slightly older computer I had that didn't meet the hardware requirements for Windows 11 but had great hardware. I installed ubuntu on that thing and gave to a friend's kid.
