Situation: You have a WIFI router that feeds your families devices.

mission: finding out where unauthorized users are based upon a mapping scheme

Q: Is there a tool, that ONLY maps out where devices are located in relation to your Wifi router. I want to know if someone has hacked somehow into my Wifi router and based upon their address that is connected, show where they are? I currently live in a multi unit dwelling (Apartment) and if I can see a connection from a neighbors unit, I could go after them and make them stop along with the help of our rental office people.

If there is no tool available, is Visualbasic powerful enough to create such a tool? I've only used VB ever and I'm quite aware to some degree with how it works albeit the language has changed immensely since version 6 (long time ago huh?).

What I do is allow connections by mac address, it's called Mac Address filtering, you get the mac address of all your in home devices, add them to the list in your router config and only allow those devices to connect, no one else will be able to connect even if they hack your password. =)

How about changing your password if you've got suspicions of someone using your connection. The simplest method is usually the easiest to manage.

Don't know any consumer products that do this, but Cisco Meraki dashboard can show this sort of information.

Or do what I do, and let the hot chick in Unit 1 use my internet, because now she lets me see her boobs. BOOBS 4 WIFI!!!

oh... sorry. My password is strong I was talking from a "if I'm a dumb dumb" and someone just happens to get on.

not really.  Most wifi any more have a way to see who is online at the time.  If you have ubiquiti and constantly run the controller you can get a history of devices and block them from re entering your network, but that would require you to constantly run the controller on a computer somewhere.  You could run it on a raspberry pi
