Mike Zimmer to Coach Nebraska Football?

Recommended Posts

It happened again...another coach turned down the head coaching job at Nebraska. As a life long husker fan, this is beyond embarrasing. Recruits are decommitting, others are cancelling visits....its getting worse and worse.

Words can't describe how frustrated I am...as are most husker fans. :(

I think it is basically because Nebraska embarrassed themselves by firing Solich after a 9-3 (9-3!!!) season. That is no way grounds to fire a coach. 9-3 is an outstanding record. No decent coach will want to coach for an organization that DEMANDS perfection. I love it!

It was a shock and shame that a coach that goes 9-3 got fired. But what people don't seem to realize (not you BOOG, but people in general) is that Frank Solich's record in 2003 and over his career was only a fraction of the reason he got fired. There were so many other factors that played a bigger role in him getting let go. A few include:

1. Recruiting over the past 3-4 years hasn't been up to NU standards. They weren't recruiting the best athletes for how they wanted to run the program.

2. Offensive plan - as many people will say, a one-dimensional team can't be successful. I believe this is true. Its becoming more and more important for a team to be able to run and pass the ball efficiently. Solich was not correcting this problem and it continued to hurt the team. A change needed to be made.

3. Defensive athletes - Nebraska has always had a good defense, but the past few years hasn't been as productive. There are many factors that contribute to this problem a) the players b) the coaching of those players and c) defensive schemes....NU was getting burned in man coverage and they refused to mix in zone.

4. Losses in major games - if you look at Frank's record in big games and versus ranked opponents, you'd see that it wasn't good at all. We'd get blown out by good teams and would seem to quit after they got behind. And in reference to #2, when you can't pass, its hard to come from behind.

5. Blowout Losses - in 2003, the 3 losses were to major rivals and highly ranked teams. Not only did NU lose, but they got their asses whipped and basically gave up. This poor attitude was not going to be tollerated by the AD.

These 5 things, the the record in 2003 and his 6 year career, and many other sources all led to the firing of Frank Solich. So many people look at the record this year, and are quick to make judgements. BOOG, I totally respect your opinion and still don't believe they fired Solich after a 9-3 season. I just wanted to let everyone know the other factors that came into consideration.

nebraska isn't the dream coaching job it used to be. the program is actually pretty run down. it will need to be rebuilt, and it appears the school has very little toleration of anything less than perfect. it's impossible to do what they want. who's gonna wanna take taht job?

Your absolutely correct, it may not be the dream job it once used to be. The program might actually be a little run down, but it should be said that they did finish in the top 20, with a bowl win and 10-3 record. I don't think the program needs to be rebuilt completely, but I do think some new coaches with fresh ideas and attitudes need to be brought in to restore some better recruiting classes in an ATTEMPT to get things back to where they were...competing for conf championships and national championships. Can it happen, time will only tell.

I still think NU is a very talented team, good academics, and has a lot to offer potential recruits.

***Latest Report*** (just because I know so many people on this board love Nebraska Football)

Fox Sports is reporting that former Oakland Raiders coach Bill Callahan will interview with Nebraska AD Steve Pederson on Wed. Word is that Callahan is on a plane headed for Lincoln.

What a joke this hire would be. (N)

Reports are that some Raider players were so angry with Callahan, it almost led them start swinging at the coach. This is not someone NU, or any team for that matter, should hire as a head coach.

And the embarassing saga continues

Dont you know what would happen if Callahan got hired? Oakland would lose the title of "Stupidest Team in America" if Nebraska continue to be a subpar team...Sry Nebraska fans, its true...

On a side note, I REALLY dont like Bill Callahan

I hardly think NU is a subpar team. Subpar compared to what.....the other 18 teams ahead of them in both college football polls?

I do, however, recognize that NU isn't up the NU standards of former NU teams/decades.

Audio signal processing capabilities include normalization, phase and pitch shifting, limiting, volume adjustment, reverb and equalization filters as well as others. Visual effects include options for masking, blue-screen, distortions, rotations, colour tools, blurring, obscuring and others. Configurable keyboard shortcuts and interface layouts. Rendering is done using a separate non-blocking process so it can be stopped, paused and restarted. Kdenlive also provides a script called the Kdenlive Builder Wizard (KBW) that compiles the latest developer version of the software and its main dependencies from source, to allow users to try to test new features and report problems on the bug tracker. Project files are stored in XML format. An archiving feature allows exporting a project among all assets into a single folder or compressed archive. • Here's how to watch the Xbox Games Showcase today and what to expect by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The June games showcase week has been a packed one, with everything from major presentations like Sony and Summer Game Fest to indie-focused reveals coming in almost every day. Now, it's almost time for another big one, with Microsoft bringing its Xbox Games Showcase back later today. This is a double feature too, with a Gears of War E-Day deep dive also being attached to it. For anyone wanting to tune in online, the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase is kicking off at 10 AM PT | 1 PM ET | 6 PM BST | 7 PM CEST later today, June 7. The event will be available to watch on the official Xbox YouTube (4K 60FPS), Twitch, Facebook, Steam, Amazon Live, and other portals. Separate livestreams for American Sign Language and Audio Description will also be available. "This year marks 25 years of XBOX, and this Showcase is poised to be a true celebration, offering world premieres, new gameplay, fresh updates, and more for a swathe of projects we cannot wait to share," said Microsoft about this presentation. With a new CEO behind it that is pulling off some interesting moves, Xbox may have some surprises to reveal today. New looks at first-party games like Halo Campaign Evolved from Halo studios, Fable from Playground Games, InXile Entertainment's Clockwork Revolution, Mojang's Minecraft Dungeons II, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 from Infinity Ward are to be expected here. We may finally get to see the new Blade from Arcane Studios in action and a new Persona game from Atlus at the showcase too. Surprise announcements may also arrive from other Microsoft-owned studios like Bethesda, MachineGames, Ninja Theory, Obsidian, Rare, World's Edge, or Blizzard. Considering how every new release nowadays is staying away from November and December to avoid Grand Theft Auto VI's release, any launch dates Microsoft announces will probably skip those months as well. Once the Xbox Games Showcase ends, Microsoft will immediately kick off the Gears of War: E-Day Direct. This deep dive into the upcoming prequel from The Coalition should attach gameplay footage and perhaps a release window to the highly anticipated project.
    • People in the '50s and '60s had the same attitude, and we're still here over a half century later.
    • So after some fiddling I was able to get it to run at a pretty stable 30FPS. I'm slightly surprised about how much fiddling I had to do to get there though given what I thought was reasonable hardware: Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics Memory: 16 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor 1: AMD Radeon 780M Graphics Graphics Processor 2: AMD Radeon RX 7700S I think I could do it better if I use Linux rather than Windows, Windows RAM usage is stupid without stripping the system down. But once I got it working in a reasonable state, it was so awesome! I felt like a new Bond! If anyone has any advice to get things going a bit smoother FPS-wise, I'd appreciate it.
