Jailbreaking Question - Looking for an iPad app no longer on official Appstore

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded to an iPad Pro and I'm looking for a certain app that I had on my old iPad that is no longer on the official Appstore.  (the app is St@sh).

My question is, if I jailbreak my iPad Pro, install St@sh via Cydia, then update my iPad Pro via the next official Apple software update, will the app stay on the device after the update un-jailbreaks my iPad?

I don't really want a jailbroken device, but I'm wondering if this is a decent way to get ahold of an app that's no longer available.  (I'm assuming St@sh is available on Cydia).

Thanks for any input you could provide.  This is all new to me.

Thanks but it's not in my purchased list anymore either.  There were two other apps that weren't available in the store that WERE in my purchased list.  Unfortunately, St@sh wasn't there at all.

I guess that could happen. I download apps in iTunes and sync across. That way I always have a local copy.

Do you still have your old iPad with it? If you sync it with iTunes it will copy over any purchases on it and then once St@sh is in iTunes you could send it to the new one.

Otherwise, I guess jailbreaking is the only other way and I can't help there as I've never had the need.

I thought of that too.  I do still have the app on the old ipad.  But, as I found out the hard way, Apple has disabled the "Transfer Purchases" for apps in iOS 9+.

So, there is no way for me to transfer the app.ipa to my PC from the old iPad.  I even tried some third party tools on my PC to transfer the app.  No dice.  It's blocked by iOS.

If the app does not come from the App Store it will not stay there after removing jailbreak and going with the next update.
