Just sprung for ARMA 3. probably my best buy in a long while

Recommended Posts

ARMA 3 in my opinion was a great buy. The sound of the firearms is spot on with what it was like when I served. Actually it was eerie and gave me some flashbacks. I think ARMA3 is more refined. I love the fact you can use the 2D or 3D editor. nice touch!

only thing I think would make the game better is, rather than be hemmed up with a predetermined soldier, I wonder if I could create a utility that would allow you to select a soldier Type> weapon you want> and then start from the premade start point. I like the sniper soldiers, specops to be specific.

anyone want to play an ARMA3 COOP would be be able to contact me on Steam. my gamer tag is [Black6]Actual. my old call sign in the military was Black6-Romeo (Radio operator) Black6-Actual would be the company commander.

But please feel free to add me to your friends list and we can ally up and complete a mission. I don't like the halogram sites, I like the scopes because shooting long distances is a bit tougher and I find myself having a hard time seeing distance targets

but add my as a friend [BLACK6]Actual.

I'll check it out. I am tired of BF4 and have been playing R6:Siege as of late. I'll send you a add on Steam.

it is amazing. they totally redid the sound. when you shoot, you hear the echo and report EXACTLY or the closest I have ever heard in a game thus far. though It was in during the M16A2 days. but the combat is awesome. my eyes are bad so I can't see the enemy too far off. as leader, I just let them find the enemy and engage.

as we used to say in the Army: Shoot, move, communicate.

in past ARMA games, you only heard the radio voice. but I was standing next to a leader and heard him standing right there AND on the radio. its awesome. the graphics rock, the trees look like trees now and not a simple geometry with a texture slapped on it.

Request sent. I'm xrobwx on Steam. Hell, I'm xrobwx just about everywhere on the interwebs. :)Back in the mid 1990's I had to choose the x's on Compuserve and/or Prodigy ISP because robw was taken and I've kept it ever since.

I think it's worth mentioning that Arma 3 is in no way similar to BF4. Just pointing this out if you're thinking they might play similarly.

trag3dy, you got that right. BF4 is cartoonish, in terms of graphics, gameplay. ARMA3 really requires tactics. to me, the islands seem a lot larger and the game engine seems by my experience, 1Km looks like 1Km. some games don't give you that real view of distance. I'm in the midst of learning but also building a COOP mission which we'll all be a Bradley IFV patrol and patrol to several camps/bases and take out enemy armor assets. I'm learning to create the patrols. I have 2 IFV's already grouped that when my or the leaders IFV takes off, the IFV platoons with an attached M1 (deciding M1A1 or A2 or A2 Tusk) as part of each group of vehicles. the Sabo rounds will come in handy. I completed the IFV training school in Ft Benning GA. 1993 and I know how to drive these awesome vehicles.

I'll keep you posted. in the mean time feel free to add me to your friends list and I'll enjoy hopping and popping bad guys. I have no issue with letting someone else be the leader. its all about fun anyway. I'll try to assimilate the mods I have active. I have a special mod that ported the ARMAII maps, most notably the Afghanistan like maps which I like. I'm creating a second mission based upon the Operation red wings from the movie "lone Survivor" about Navy Seal Marcus Lutrell movie. It's coming along nicely. based on the map terrain, I can't make everything happen but the battle of being out numbered and have the bad guy, named Shah placed already. trying to learn to make a trigger if we kill him the mission completes successfully.

I have many more ideas. one will be based upon my Cold war days before the Germany's united and the wall came down. my company had a mission on the famed Fulda Gap. but that'll come later

see you guys on the battlefield.

I've seen a lot of talk about ARMA 3, not really looked into it much. I might pick it up in the coming weeks or months.

If you want to play a true to life military sim go for it, otherwise you are going to regret it. BTW don't run too fast, you'll get out of breath.

I do enjoy the more real-life-like simulation games, in comparison to the artworked, brightly-coloured sim games. So this might be for me; I'll go watch some videos.

So, it's like Ark Survival but with a Military theme. Cool. In Ark, if you haven't played it, you get cold and can actually die if you don't build a fire from the resources you collect ie, wood, plant material. You get hungry and even poop from time to time.

I've made that mistake a couple times looking for cover. I hear those bullet pops when they hit the ground and have NO clue where its coming from. I'm tired of the Eotech sights though. I own one and you get no zoom at all.

This is pretty much ARMA 3 - Spend 20 minutes making a crappy plan, then hug corners in a city while you try to identify where shots are coming from.

where did they get that Seals mod? been looking around on Armaholic

Update: I got back from vacation in Southern California and my Arma3 was updated probably within the last couple days but BI completely re-created a new under interface at the main menu. It shocked me at first but after checking things out, it seems pretty nice.

    • This is weird. Mythos is more unrestricted compared to Fable. Technically it poses more risk!!
    • This is a great thing, I always have issues with Verizon while inside of certain football stadiums due to the saturation and walls blocking signal so a LOS way to connect would be great. Verizon was supposed to be offering sat data this year but I've not heard a word of it lately. Dude is sending rockets into space in a cheap manner, low waste foot print and has a great product with solar/battery tech. We would be so far behind China right now if not for him and a push to get back into space.
    • illegally? Proof of that? Seems you are posting misinformation or well a pure straight up lie cause there is zero proof of such a thing. But I get it...
