how to move the user folders from one partition (:C) to another partition (:D)?

Recommended Posts

Probably this question has already been done but I can not find the thread.

I have a notebook with Windows 10 that has two partitions: C (OS) and D (DATA).

All the user folders (downloads, documents, pictures, etc.) are in the partition: C.

I would like to move the folders from C (SSD) to D (HDD).

How can I do it?

Create the folder in the D:\ drive and name it what it's name is on the ssd drive. Then move then move the contents to the new folder , see the image below . After you do this, you can delete the folders on your ssd. Make sure that your paths and file assocuitions follow like if you change your music folder all of your tracks will have to be redone.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, yesterday I moved my user folders (as I usually did with windows XP) without first creating folders as you have suggested me.

Now I have the folders which are all called D and I can not rename them or to move them to new user folders I created in DATI (Documents, Downloads, etc.)

Any suggestion?

I usually use libraries for this purpose now. Much more reliable. I have, in the past experienced certain programs completely refusing to install unless the documents folder was in C:\Users\.

If you have a restore point before you did this use it. If you right click on one does it give you a choice to restore the previous location?

Hello,

Have you tried clicking on the Location for each item, changing it back to the original path, creating the correct folders on your D:\ drive, and then switching the location over again?

 @ Gary7: I don't have any restore point

@ Vince800: I'm not sure how to use the libraries

    • There are two version of qbittorrent 5.1.0 The normal version which I think is based of QT5 & the QT6 lt20 version. I'm currently using the QT6 LT20 version of 5.1.0 and it downloaded an ubuntu iso perfectly fine.
