This is a fresh install of Windows 10 Education.  When I opened Edge today to go to a website, I typed 888.com (it will be blocked normally in our content filter, so it prompts to login), but it just did a search for "888.com".  I could even type http://888.com and same result.  I tried this with another site and got the same result.  The I tried neowin.net, and that worked fine.  I saw the icon next to the URL turn into magnifying glass for the searches and and a globe for NEOWIN.

My question is why does it do that, and how do I get it to stop?  The desktop version of IE works just fine.

It could be a bug. It used to be that hostnames couldn't start with a number but it was changed at some point.

That's interesting.  I hadn't used Edge much up until today.  Just here and there and it's been a while.  Just haven't installed any browsers yet and trying to evaluate using it for next school year.  Most use Chrome anyway, but I'll keep an eye on it and ask is MS forums.  Thanks for input!

your filter may not understand the edge browser, it may be browser based.

in my barracuda web filter, if using the remote monitoring software I must tell it what executables/browsers to monitor.   Internally it is invisible/pass through to the network so it doesn't matter.

All I am saying is that I do not know how your webfilter works and it is possible that it could be browser based and that it really isn't a browser issue as it is a webfilter issue with edge.

It's using transparent filtering right now.  We have a proxy available, but I don't have GPO set up yet as we're moving to AD from Novell.

We do have a login on blocked sites, and my login is allowed everything except porn, basically.

I would think with transparent filtering and my login allowing most everything, I would have an issue, but there could be something there.  I know there was an issue a while back with Edge (and Apple with iOS9) where the splash page wouldn't open properly.
