Changing host names in Slackware

Hopefully, I won't need to ask anymore questions after this, but I'm curious about changing the host name for my computer. By default, it is read as darkstar.example.net and I want to change it so if I need to restart my computer, the address won't change. I tried just changing the /etc/HOSTNAME file, but I'm sure that's not enough because if I do the change, the host is just known as anonymous. What files need to be changed if I want to change the host name?

If you type hostname at the shell prompt, it will tell you your PCs hostname.

You can also use hostname to set your hostname.

Type man hostname to read the manual on hostname. :)

Oh, and through that, I learned that one other file had to be changed as well. Thanks. Now my FTP server doesn't need address changes on every reboot.

And, as you will learn, rebooting to make changes is a Windows Thing, and is only needed in Linux to change kernels or add hardware. :D
