NHL All star starters

Recommended Posts

here they are, announced just moments ago:

Eastern Conference

Joe Thornton (Boston) - C

Martin St. Louis (Tampa Bay)- RW

Ilya Kovalchuk (Atlanta)- LW - overall leading vote getter

Scott Niedermeyer (New Jersey) - D

Scott Stevens (New Jersey) - D

Martin Brodeur (New Jersey) - G

Western Conference

Mike Modano (Dallas) - C

Todd Bertuzzi (Vancouver) - RW

Bill Guerin (Dallas) - LW

Rob Blake (Colorado) - D - Western Conference leading vote getter

Nicholas Lidstrom (Detroit) - D

Marty Turco (Dallas) - G

Dallas and New Jersey dominated the balloting. Kovalchuk is making his first all star appearance for atlanta and was the overall leading vote getter by a large margin. all these are very deserving of the starting job.

Too bad it's in Minni (former home of the Stars) because guys like Modano have been crap this year and shouldn't have made it. Datsyuk should be the West centre and Sundin should be the East starter. I say that because of stats not bias.

Edit @ bayrider:  you're a funny one man. Souray lol.

draper and datsyuk are having seasons 100x better than modano's but he's a starter. i say the gm's should vote for the starting lineups themselves, not some people that know jack about hockey. i guess draper and datsyuk aren't known well enough just yet. i just hope either of them gets to play and i'll be happy. :)

why do they have damn Dallas players in there... they suck this year...

Simple. It's in Minnisota. Minnisota use to be home to the Minnisota North Stars whom are now the Dallas Stars. It's home town favouritism. There's no one to vote for on the wild so they vote for old North Stars.

BMac: whats wrong with Sheldon Souray? he's a great defensmen. Considering he just got back from a year off with a broken wrist to lead defensmen in scoring i dont see why he should not be in the All-Star game. He's a great offensive D

oh... is it because he doesnt play for the maple laughs?

I could not diasagree more. Minnesota is a Dallas hating state. Modano, Guerin, and Turco getting in has little to nothing to do with the game being in Minnesota. Besides, Modano would be the only player associated with the North Stars. The all-star game is for the fans and whether or not they are having a good season or not these guys are fan favorites.

First off: what the heck?! WHERE ARE THE DESERVING PLAYERS?!

I know I'm biased when I say this (I'm a Detroit Red Wings fan and I live in Dallas), but NONE of the Stars players that were seletected (with the possible exception of Billy G., but his stats don't tell you how his year has really been) deserve to be there. Madono has stunk it up, and Turco only got even decent recently.

That said, Lidstrom doesn't deserve to be there (as a starter), either. He's had a decent year, but he's not even the best defenseman on the Red Wings. Get Schneider and Datsyuk to go.

not bad, i think some different players should be on there. draper and datsyuk are having great seasons but they will never get the starting position specially draper he is so under-rated. He is one of my favorite players the past few season after attending wing games seeing him work his a$$ off every time on the ice, he never stops. I would agree with lidstrom too i would put schneider there instead, even wooley for the way of season he is having! but i know all of this reply has to do with the D-town Red Wings but thats the only team i really care about

Give Datsyuk some time and he'll make it. As for Draper, he is having the season of his life. He'll never do this well again. He needs recognition now before it's over. Lidstrom is a defense icon and that's why he's there.

Now the Dallas issue. Modano is only there cause it's in Minni. Guerin is a great player and I'm glad he made. Turco is one of the most well known active goalies that have done satisfactory. That's why he's there. RichieNine9 point taken.

I agree with you except for the Stars part. Guerin really isn't having a good season and neither is Turco.

Guerin is an elite player. I love his hard nosed style and am thrilled he's a starter. As for Turco, it's hard to find a guy in the West that's been better that has a name like he does. I would say Ozzie's been better but he doesn't attract the attention of a Marty Turco.

Where the hell is Sheldon Souray for the D?? he's by far one of the best in the league right now! hell, he's the leading scorer for his team!

lol sheldon souray wow hes had a hot streak but nothing else hes not great, lol leading point getter for the canadians lol shows you wat kind of talent they got,

1 other question how come Naslund aint starting for the west, hes better then bert

Tuzzi, like Guerin, plays a physical style that the fans love. Kind of dumb though considering the All Star game rarely has more than one hit thrown and it's usually Stevens who throws it.

wtf,? sheldon souray aint leading in defencemen , hes 5th for crying out loud

1 SERGEI GONCHAR 39

2 ROB BLAKE 31

3 Chris Pronger 29

4 MATHIEU SCHNEIDER 29

5 SHELDON SOURAY 26

but i have to agree in the term maple laughs i absolutly hate them, i have to admit there having a good year tho

Damn I missed this one. First of all Souray will be in the All Star game he just won't be a starter. He's the flavour of the month. Second he is the top scorer with 13 goals but he doesn't have the face value a Stevens or Niedermeyer has. He will make the team but no one except a hard core fan has heard of him. He won't draw like the two electees will. As for your Maple laughs comment, enough with the past I live for today and at the moment the Leafs are on top of the Habs in the standings. :p

    • Still using Classic Outlook? Microsoft highlights 15 reasons to switch to New Outlook by Usama Jawad As many of you may know, Microsoft has been trying to get customers to ditch Classic Outlook in favor of New Outlook for quite some time now. To that end, it has added numerous capabilities to the latter, including PST features, and it is working on several more, such as a unified inbox. However, customer response has been a bit lukewarm so far, with many considering the New Outlook to be "hot garbage". Now, Microsoft has highlighted 15 features that users can leverage in New Outlook in yet another attempt to get customers to migrate. Although not all of the 15 capabilities are exclusive to New Outlook, in fact, most of them are available in Classic Outlook as well. But Microsoft hopes that this combination of familiar and fresh features will be able to attract existing users as well as new ones. For ease of readability, we have summarized the 15 features below: Pin an email: This makes it easier to track important emails Snooze an email: You can temporarily snooze an email thread for a specific time frame until it becomes relevant again. This can be very useful in scenarios where you don't feel like actively following a thread or simply want to follow up on a later date Add multiple categories at the same time: You can assign multiple categories to an email through a single, simplified interface Sweep: As the name implies, you can define automated move processes on your inbox to declutter it, rather than cleaning it up manually Schedule send: Does exactly what it says on the tin, and can be useful when accommodating recipients in different timezones Simplified folder sharing: The sharing process has been simplified so permissions are automatically applied on parent folders Follow a meeting: This is an RSVP option that lets people know that you won't be able to join the meeting but would still like to access a recap Save calendar views: You can save different views for the calendar based on different workflows Improved meeting tracking: Organizers have more controls in viewing meeting responses, such as the ability to sort and download them. Typically useful when there is a large audience Meeting recap: The Outlook Calendar surfaces a meeting recap with recordings, transcripts, and shared files Filtered views: Allows you to declutter your Calendar so that it's easier to scan and schedule Change a recurring event: Users can modify future events of a series of meetings while preserving the configuration of previous ones Rename your email account: This labeling makes it easier to identify multiple accounts in Outlook Modern themes: Exactly what the name says, plus Dark Mode Keyboard shortcuts: This facilitates flexible user behavior as customers can choose between Outlook for Windows shortcuts, Outlook for the web, or turn them off completely There you have it. It's a decent list, but it remains to be seen if it will move the needle in a meaningful way for users who are attached to Classic Outlook. Again, a lot of the aforementioned features are already available in Outlook Classic, but for some, native functionality is not present, and people typically resort to workarounds. Microsoft will be hoping that it's primarily those capabilities that get people to finally switch.

    • Or anything online that requires an anti-cheat
    • Gf needed a new Surface and was looking at a Surface Laptop because of the Snapdragon. Seeing as it was a two year old chip she just decided to get a Lenovo Yoga 2 in 1 instead. Personally this Surface Ultra Cassis reminds me a bit of Razor. It would be interesting if it could handle proper gaming and be 17 inch.
