Setting the Font size in wine

I have CrossOver Office and their version of wine and i was curious how i would go about setting the font size and perhaps the font face (not as important) within the config files..there isnt much documentation. Its not exactly too hard to read...but the is room for some enlargement, any help would be appriciated.

Change the font inside the config files???

Aren't they just normal text files?

ya but is there a like font size section u could show me perhaps? ive searched and found nothing.

What are you using to edit? Do you open a terminal window? Do you switch to tty2 (CTRL-ALT-F2), or anything like that? DO you use vim? kate? kedit? gedit?

i use kwrite...and just went through some mediocre config files...im not sure where to be looking actually.

In kwrite, select the Settings menu, then select Configue Editor, and a box will pop up. Click the Fonts symbol on the left, and have a ball! :D

yes i mean the fonts in actual windows apps within running under wine.

You know... After re-reading it a couple of times, I think I finally read what what intended...

When he said "how i would go about setting the font size and perhaps the font face (not as important) within the config files..", for some reason, I took it to be setting the font face and size within the config files.. :blush:

Same words, different emphasis, and TOTALLY screwed up answers from me! :wacko:

As far as configuring wine goes.... :no: I don't touch the stuff. I played with wine to see that it worked, but didn't have any legacy Win stuff I coudl not find replacements for, so haven't used it since... Sorry.. :(

lol no biggie....i use it for Dreamweaver MX...i use it for a class im taking in school atm...the font size is ok...but it could get bigger :)

Doesn't wine use the same font sizes that the Windows proggy would run with???

no...it emulates a font set for the application based on linux.

It looks like you can edit the wine config file and edit the [fonts] section. I'll quote a relevant passage, and if it applies, use the above link to the document to find out more.

This section sets up wine's font handling.

"Resolution" = "96"

Since the way X handles fonts is different from the way Windows does, wine uses a special mechanism to deal with them. It must scale them using the number defined in the "Resolution" setting. 60-120 are reasonable values, 96 is a nice in the middle one. If you have the real windows fonts available (<dirs to wine>/documentation/ttfserver and fonts), this parameter will not be as important. Of course, it's always good to get your X fonts working acceptably in wine.

"Default" = "-adobe-times-"

The default font wine uses. Fool around with it if you'd like.
