Internal Bus Architecture

hey all, i've got an assignment from college and for one of the tasks i have to give an explanation of what "Internal Bus Architecture" is, i have searched the internet and not come up with much, could anyone give me a brief idea of what it is, or a few things to search for?

An example of "Internal Bus Architecture" is the PCI architecture or PCI Express. That is for data transfer between devices. ATA or SATA is specified for data transfer for harddrives.

example of Bus topolgies are: EISA, ISA, PCI and Micro Channel
