Firefox issue after enable multi core support

Recommended Posts

I'm using version of 49.0.1and after some tweaking got multi-core support enabled, but now I can not seem to copy/paste (randomly per site) and my add-on Clipe which allows me to store multiple items on the clipboard will not paste anything except the latest entry. I am also having issue when I search via Google (or other search engine) when I click on t he link nothing  happens, I have to right click- open in new tab in order to get it to work. These issues did not start until I enabled the multi-core support. Should I go ahead and disable it and see if the issue(s) are resolved?

You mean multi-process (aka e10s), right?

All add ons have to be compatible. I just read yesterday that it is best not to force it in Fx 49.0.1. It will work better with Firefox's Beta fx 50 B6.

Force Enable

If you've tried enabling e10s following the instruction above, but your about:support indicates that e10s is disabled (e.g., accessibility, add-ons can trigger this), you can force e10s on for testing purposes. Within about:config create a new boolean pref named browser.tabs.remote.force-enable and set it to true. This is not encouraged, use it at your own risk!

That's... a lot of extensions. Have you tried disabling them all and seeing if the issue still exists? If the issue doesn't persist after disabling all extensions you'll know it's one of them causing it. You can then try enabling them one-by-one (restarting Firefox each time you enable an extension and retesting) and retesting for the issue until you come upon the culprit.

Personally, I keep both my Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Vivaldi, etc. light with the bare minimum of extensions and I never encounter browser issues like crashes and copying and pasting not working.

Only 4 of my add-ons are e10 compatible. :( Guess I'll undo what I did to force it, since it's not acting right.

That is unfortunate. I only run a few add-ons and can get by without them if need be, so e10s are a welcomed addition. I remember when e10s were first introduced into the nightly builds many moons ago, those were some buggy times until extensions started to update their code. I just periodically check that website to see if any new extensions pop up or any updates, i do have one or two that are not compatible that i would still like to use.

    • Of course the sales are bad. Who even asked for a thinner phone with way less battery? Lightness? It's still a giant brick, it's just a thinner giant brick. It makes no sense at all. Making folding phones thinner, now that does make sense. Because when folded, the thinner it is unfolded, the more usable and pocketable it is when folded. You already expect worse battery at expense of actually being more pocketable. Galaxy Flip, when folded is half the size of S Ultra models and about as thick. That does make a big difference when fitting it in a pocket. But the phone that's as big as Ultra, making it thinner, you don't really solve anything, it's still a giant slab that barely fits into a pocket. All the "Mini" phones made way more sense than this thin crap. Especially now that it's literally impossible to find a phone smaller than 6.5". My dad only needs phone for calls and SMS and he doesn't want to go with smartphone because they are all so massive. Especially cheaper ones. Like, he'd be fine with Galaxy A06 for all he cares in terms of hardware, but it only comes in giant 6.7" format. It's useless. Or is he suppose to find a 800€ old gen iPhone Mini or Zenfone? He doesn't even need those stupid specs and such stupid price. And then you see old people fumbling around with giant smartphones and they don't even need 3/4 of features on them.
    • its funny now instead of robots built for a specific task which is more efficient we are focused on humanoid robots that are built for do anything but might not do it as well because of restrictions similar to how human body works and they were molded after...
