this is a beautiful theme... but one thing i dont understand is

why are there so many mac themes?

they look almost exactly the same...

This is an awesome interpretation of Panther. Very well done to everyone. :)

And my 5 cents as to why there are so many Mac based themes... simple... "Easy on the eyes"... I'm a graphic designer, and I spent a lot of time at my PC, don't get me wrong, there are some wonderful themes out there, but when you're working with "color" & "layout" all day, you need something a little "lighter"... if I was predominantly using my machine for games, chat, etc, I'd definately go for something a little darker and more ornate.

i find a bug:

open a window with tabs.. the first and the last one have a round corner on the bottom, then, when you chose that one, you will see the tab become square.

I like those Mac styles, but the most bad thing is that usually the button's texts get truncated because the font is too big :(

@moonsinner:

Please read the Readme before posting bug reports.

Both of the issues you mention are covered.

Thank you all for the very warm welcome. I am happy that you guys welcome the new TD4.0.

When you say "why so many Mac themes??, they all look alike" I'll try to answer why this one is special.

Over at the Mac emulation site www.aqua-soft.org, for the last 4 months a member base of 5000+ has been anticipating this release. Threads on the TD Panther series combined have accumulated between 20k and 30k of page views, considering aquasoft is such a small community (only 5000 members) that is a very large amount.

Although this theme was only released 15 hours ago it's release thread is into its 7th page.

Adding to this, is that this theme was a joint release together with aquafying legend Iceman, whose latest theme before this one was Jaguar 2.01 emulating Mac 10.2, until now accepted to be the only proper OsX port.

Also acclaimed neowin artists such as b0se, and Kol are part of the group of 9 talented artists that helped to make this the definitive XP port of Apple Os X 10.3.

Excellent work, TD. I've been using your TDK_Panther VS off and on since it came out, and this one is even better. Terrific work, thanks for the time you've spent on it.

BTW, I follow your work over at Aqua-soft, so like the others, I'm eagerly awaiting Plastic Pro 2 :)

holy crap, you are the first to ever say that.... thank you for your wisdom, im sure everybody would much rather go out and shell out hella cash for a new computer instead of downloading a couple files on the internet.....

take one(1) hammer and apply to face, use force if necessary.

at least come up with an original flame if you are going to troll around....

Disappointing, I'm afraid. I'm a great fan of the OSX Emulation scene, and I used to do a bit of app work at AquaXP - I'm not bashing what you've done, but it didn't deserve the build-up. The way I see it, it's been one big huge anti-climax. Frankly I'd rather use some of KoL's themes than this.

Nothing special, just another Panther theme with bad fonts. (No, they're not 100% accurate - don't give me that).

Congrats on all the hard work and the release and everything, but it's not what you guys made it out to be.

Nice enough theme, though.

That may be the case but I still find KoL's panther to be technically the best Panther theme out there.

Adamp2p:

Thanks for your kind words, I appreciate it when people actually try a theme, before commenting.

@msbmsn:

If you don't believe that the fonts are 100% accurate, I can only say that you probably do not know how to install the supplied fonts, or have not been a designer very long.

@Dazzla:

If you believe that KoL's Panther is more technically a correct Panther, I can only tell you that KoL himself said, he is not out to make an accurate Panther theme.

A comparison for the real Graphic artists out there:

    • Microsoft wants to end printer driver headaches with Windows Ready Print by Usama Jawad A few days ago, Microsoft released Windows 11 Experimental build 26300.8553, bringing a ton of enhancements such as Start menu customization, search improvements, Taskbar polish, and other minor UI tweaks. Another relatively major enhancement snuck deep within the change log was related to upgrades to the Windows printing experience. Now, Microsoft has shared more details about these benefits. For starters, Microsoft has renamed its Modern Print Platform to Windows Ready Print. The company believes that this name highlights its shift in strategy, which now focuses on modernizing, securing, and streamlining the printing experience for Windows devices. Some of the upgrades present in Windows Ready Print have already been seeded to customers and partners. This includes ending support for third-party printer drivers via Windows Update and transitioning towards the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) and the native Windows IPP printer driver. In line with these changes, new printer installations will default to Windows Ready Print on eligible devices starting from July 2026. However, Microsoft recognizes that not all environments will be able to migrate to this platform immediately, so it will allow users to choose between installing the printer via Windows Ready Print or the traditional OEM process. Users will be able to toggle this configuration through Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners > Printer preferences. This control applies only to new printer installations, and its functionality can also be modified via Group Policy as follows: Launch Group Policy Editor Navigate to Local Computer Policy -> Administrative Templates -> Printers Find and select 'Configure Windows Ready Print driver ranking' -> double click to open it Select 'Enabled' (if you wish to enable Windows Ready Print driver selection) or 'Disabled' (if you wish to explicitly disable Windows Ready Print driver selection). Select Apply Select OK Similarly, if you set up Windows protected print mode through the same setting in Windows 11, it will also default to using Windows Ready Print exclusively. Microsoft hopes that these improvements will help eradicate dependency on OEM-specific driver installation processes and simplify printer installations. We'll likely find out more about other tangible benefits in the coming months.
