WinRAR "extract all/here" option missing.

Question

I don't think i've ever left it so long without formatting. As a result i've a stack of settings that have been changed & i've totally forgotten how to put them 'right'.

I installed WinRAR as i always have done after formatting but this time around if i click a zipped file there is no "extract here" menu.

I googled the solution which said open WinRAR, Options>Settings>Integration>select Integrate WinRAR into shell.

The only thing is, this was ticked anyway. I unticked it & re-ticked it but this hasn't solved the problem either.

So when i right click a zipped file, there is no extract option. I have to double click it & do it that way. Not the end of the world but a little inconvenient.

More than anything is i don't ever remember this happening before.

Honestly, 7-Zip is better and totally free.

I like WinRAR & have never previously had a problem.

I'm also using the exact same installer I've always used which i have stored on a USB stick.

I have had this happen only a couple times where it didn't correct it. The last thing I can suggest (and what has always worked for me) is right click the install .exe, go to properties, click on compatibility, choose Run this program for windows 7 AND check off Run this program as an administrator. If this doesn't do it, I am sorry I couldn't help.

It sounds like you're using an old file. Are you still using the same bit version of windows? 32bit or 64bit? I have a few programs that are 32bit where the context menus don't work on 64bit since I upgraded my version.

Try using the latest version of WinRAR, unless you're using a pirated copy that is. 7-Zip is free, and superior, bar the RAR recovery options, but they're proprietary anyway to RARLabs, the guys who make WR. 7z compression is superior.
