I wonder how this will affect the next two Star Wars movies?

Same here, even though it may be a bit too soon to think about that.  I believe that most of the filming for Episode 8 had already taken place but this will surely throw a wrench into the script for Episode 9.

Judging by how they handled Tarkin in Rogue One, I think they will use a similar technique potentially.

Quite possibly, but Tarkins CGI was very noticeable.  I wouldn't want the same done to Leila, especially if she is going to play a major role.  If she doesn't die in Episode 8, I can see her death at the start of Episode 9.

True! I wasn't saying I would like it, but I wouldn't put it past them.

My wife and I read she had stopped breathing for an insane 10 minutes. the brain starts to die after 5. My immediate thought was, she wasn't coming back

From the moment she first stepped onto the screen in 1977’s “Star Wars,” the character of Leia Organa — whip-smart, wryly funny and fearless enough to stand up to the likes of Darth Vader without batting an eye, with an instantly iconic set of buns on either side of her head — inspired generations of young girls to be bold and inspired crushes in generations of young boys.

And a few not so young boys.

Same thing to Paul Walker for Fast & Furious movies.  They use Paul's brother in 7th movie. They could use CGI version of Paul Walker in Fast 8.  Since Vin Diesel wants Paul to be proud that Paul is part of the movie in his honor. Something like that.

RIP Carrie.  May the force be with you.

Since filming is already done for episode 8 then they don't have to do any CGI stuff unless it's some needed reshoots but I haven't heard anything about them doing any at this point in time.

It still messes things up for what they can do afterwards.

    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.
