Did I just lose my free game?

Recommended Posts

Yeah I got my free copy of Batman - The Telltale Series - Episode 2: Children of Arkham and at the time I clicked on to create a xbox account/ganertag later. Anyhow I decided to create one and the game not showing up in https://account.xbox.com/en-US/MyGames/ yet if I go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/batman-the-telltale-series-episode-2-children-of-arkham-disc/c3p6n4kxbfk7 it says "You own this product".

What do I do?

IIRC with episodic games you need Part 1 (aka the launcher and base game) before it'll appear in your account. Episodes 2-5 are "DLC" which can't be played until you own Part 1.

So it still in my account for the day I do decide to buy part 1 right?

Ep2 onwards are dlcs. the console recognizes part 1 as the main game. you can't progress the story if you don't start it. all the telltale games are cause-and-effect and any choice you make in ep1 will reflect (or come back to bite you in ep2) so you can't reap the consequences without making the choice really.

It is also worth noting that the first episode is often offered for free. At least, it is on Google Play and the iOS App Store. I don't know if they do that on Xbox or PlayStation or not. But really, the best thing to do is wait for it to finish, and then buy it all at once (or on sale), lest you be left with a Kentucky Route Zero situation. Though Telltale generally has a good track record of hammering all the episodes out in a timely fashion, you don't want to have to wait for them to say you can continue playing the game. (Not knocking KR0, it looks awesome, but I'm not touching it until it's finished.)
