It's absolutely shocking how many non-car people don't do basic maintenance, such as checking oil, tyre pressures, and things like hoses and clamps. No wonder so many scrapyards are full!

 

I check my 13 year old Astra's vital bits every WEEK, she's well loved. Being mechanically minded I know immediately if something sounds or feels wrong, and I do something about it.

Shes kicking herself hard right now because she does know better.  Just lost her mind for a few min and thats all it took.  My drive belt snapped a few months ago while driving.  I heard it, looked at my temp and saw it going up and pulled over right away.  If she would have done so, she would be fine now.
