I have used ABC for over 3 months now, and ever since the beginning, it randomly freezes my PC (including mouse/sound/keyboard etc.) for 5/10 seconds at a time, then everything is back to normal for 5/10 seconds then it freezes again. Only when you close all open programs (Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, MSN Messenger, ABC etc.) does it stop freezing, but then the Internet stops working (i.e. after the first freeze occurs, then no program can access the Internet). Only a restart works. My system/software specifications are below:
ABC v2.6.1 (using the Shad0w's Bittorrent experimental S-5.8.7 core)
Windows XP Professional (SP1)
Asus A7N8X Deluxe (nForce 2)
AMD Athlon XP 2700+
512 MB PC2700 DDR-RAM (DDR333)
Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9800 Pro (128 MB)
Western Digital 80 GB 7,200 RPMS Special Edition (8 MB Cache) (x2)
Any ideas?
PS. It used to happen when I used to run Shad0w's Bittorrent (before I started to use ABC), so I assume it has something to do with the core (that Shad0w created).
Can everyone (Microsoft, LibreOffice, Euro-Office, Apple) just come together and use one standard format?
I appreciate that everyone is turning around and saying, "but our format is better! Use our format!" but it just seems a bit pointless.
I just want to read and edit a document, for goodness sake...part of the reason I try and avoid the documents that people share is because it's too much of a headache. I don't care if you use Windows, Mac or Linux, but if I can't read the damned thing because of your preference I'm going to reply saying, "I can't open that and I'm not buying a new computer to read a 2 page document."
I noticed this was already happening within my organization; my teams location will change between remote and on-site without me having to do anything. Is it possible this is live already for select customers?
While LibreOffice is not pleased to see a new competitor, they are absolutely correct in stating that Euro-Office using a MS file standard as a default is not being truly "European." Using a MS standard just means Euro-Office is just a "bastardized MS Office Suite." (Wasn't a major purpose of Euro-Office was to get away from being captive and enslaved to MS's Office Suite??)
Microsoft continues its long-term policy of spying on their users--despite vehement denials. That feature will be disabled (or removed) either "elegantly" with MS providing a true way to disable it, or "quick and dirty" via a third-party who WILL come up with a way to disable it. Your choice MS...
