jnelsoninjax
Anyone playing this? I bought it day 1, and have over 30 hours into it, but I so far have found 2 rather substantial bugs in the mission aspect of the game: according the map I am standing right where the object is supposed to be, but it is not there, and the other one tells me to go to a safe (which I had previously been at) and retrieve something out of it, but since I had already taken everything out, there is nothing there for me to get, but the objective will not clear. Has anyone played the whole game through yet? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1330648-prey-2017/ Share on other sites
Danielx64
I own the game but haven't played it yet. I seen videos of someone beating the game in 10 minutes so I think I will wait till the bugs are fixed first. FunkyMike
Is the game any good? Any relation at all to the original? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1330648-prey-2017/#findComment-597891420 Share on other sites

Vandalsquad
3 hours ago, FunkyMike said: Is the game any good? Any relation at all to the original? No, its more like System Shock if anything. Maybe a touch of Bioshock? Plays great however, only have about 10 hours in on PS4. Hopefully get another 10 in this week if I have a couple late nights. The more you play it the more it expands and feels rewarding and well thought out. This game doesn't hold your hand, and some of the enemies at just the start alone take some thought process to overcome. Pleasantly surprised for a $60AU new release game that I haven't been watching while in development. Would recommend anyone to pick it up who likes a skillfull classic FPS Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1330648-prey-2017/#findComment-597891486 Share on other sites
Setnom
I'm liking it. It's a shame the game still stutters on my system. The patch and the NVIDIA hotfix driver didn't fix it 100%. I have to alternate between fullscreen and borderless to make the gameplay buttery smooth. jnelsoninjax
I have no problems with the game running, at 4K and full screen, so that is good. It is just the annoying bugs that are preventing me from completing 2 of the objectives that has me put off. +Zagadka Subscriber² Posted May 18, 2017 Subscriber² Share Posted May 18, 2017 The only thing it shares in common with the previous Prey is the title. It is not a continuation in any way. It is a decent game. Obviously most people point out it is Dead Space/BioShock merged. I don't think it quite has the horror aspect. A little less ambiance. Far less variation in enemies. But I'm here with a question/advice... I've gotten to near the end of the game. Without spoilers, I'm outside Talos trying to scan the veins. Unfortunately, the only weapons I have available are the wrench and a few grenades (I used the psi power enough to run out of charges). I've gone back and looked for any ammo or recyclables, but really can't find anything, and the beasties are tearing me apart while I flail at them with a wrench. I think I can make it through the gauntlet for that part of the quest, but I'm fairly sure something is going to try to eat me as soon as I move on. +Asmodai MVC Posted May 18, 2017 MVC Share Posted May 18, 2017 I find it a bit creepy that Arkane Studios entire game library is built off of copy-cat games of the old Looking Glass Studios. I get that a game here and there can be strongly inspired by another, it happens, also I get when developers leave because they lost a publisher or the company folds and they (the original devs) want to make a sequel at a new company but don't have the rights so they make a "spiritual successor" game but this is different. As far as I can tell there isn't anyone from Arkane that was from Looking Glass and it's not just one game or one franchinse... it pretty much every game they put out. Their first game was Arx Fatalis which was their spin on a new Looking Glass Ultima Underworld franchise. Their two Dishonored games are their spin on a new Looking Glass Thief francise, and now Prey is their spin on a new Looking Glass System Shock franchise. This despite the fact there IS a System Shock sequel in the works from the actual original devs. The whole thing just gives me a creepy stalker vibe. This goes way beyond just being influenced by the greats that came before IMHO.
