Some of us really need a Doom 2016 single player add-on. Not all of us are multi-player fans...

Keep preaching man, I'm with you, I'm tired of all the MP only, co-op focused, games coming out.

I for one would pay for a non retarded companion AI in fallout 4 and a non gimped settlement system where raiders spawn OUTSIDE the walls.

I guess the mod developers were too busy producing porn mods to worry about trivial things like that.

In short, I'm with Oxhorn on this. He did a video today, and as per usual for him, he articulated his thoughts in a reasonable manner.

In my own words however, I was never against the idea of paid mods, but last time, they were implemented badly, and both Bethesda and Valve should feel bad. But they should have also looked at what went wrong and put some real time and perhaps money into fixing what was broken and make something even better. But have they? They took care not to step on modding, not using the phrase "paid mods" and saying that mods will remain free and that they would not mess with mods. Also, existing mods cannot be brought to Creation Club. It's only original ideas. My biggest problem with that however is, they didn't show any good ones. They showed Dwemer armor for mudcrabs in Skyrim. They showed a bow. And they showed a funky power armor called "horse armor." Come on Bethesda. People are STILL sore over that and it shows. They didn't show one single original thing that made me think, "I need this." They showed us the worst of modding. Not a single thing they showed made me want to see more. Even the Zelda cosplay in Switchrim (I'm totally coining that phrase right here and now) looked like crap. (And that's not even a mod, it's a promotional thing for if you tap a Legend of Zelda Amiibo to the Switch. Maybe it should be, though.

Here's what they should have done. Six, nine, maybe twelve months ago, they should have tapped some modders and hired them (as in straight up hired them to Bethesda) and had them make some really impressive mods, and then show us, last night at E3, what they've been working on. If Beyond Skyrim, Fallout 4 Capital Wasteland, and Sim Settlements were all part of it, I would say hell yes, this is some quality stuff and this is worth paying for. The shovelware they showed us is the exact opposite of that. Now let's be realistic. I think that shovelware was all stuff that Bethesda just whipped up for the video. They couldn't have used existing mods, it would undermine everything. I think they just made a bunch of crap mods, maybe for April Fools or something, and saved them to be funny. The problem is, they ###### off nearly everyone, and they failed to capture our interest. Right now they're wearing pie on their faces, and it's not key lime or even chocolate cream or American apple, it's mincemeat at best and possibly even straight up monkey poo. They are not looking good right now.

Now, onto the good news. VinylicPumaGaming seems to think that the credits used to buy paid mods Creation Club content cost $10 for 1,000, meaning the "horse armor" power armor mod that costs 300 credits, actually costs $3. And nobody's going to pay $3 for a suit of power armor. But, the good news isn't the cost (which seems par for the course), but that Creation Club creators will not get paid when you buy the mod, but rather, they start getting paid when their pitch is approved. So they have to pitch a mod to Bethesda. It can't be something that already exists, whether they made it or not. That alone is huge. This is the part the haters don't understand. If someone pitches an MP5, Bethesda is not going to pay them to make that. There are probably like 30 MP5 mods on the Nexus. So why would they pay for someone to make more? If you think about it, a lot of the shovelware crap you don't want has already been made as a mod. So in theory, Creation Club content should all be new, fresh ideas. Someone will have to pitch something that Bethesda A, is willing to pay for before it's made, B, is willing to test and localize and all that, and C, is willing to pay Microsoft and Sony to release it as official DLC. The costs associated with doing that, at least on the console side, are pretty high. So they're not gonna take just anything. They don't want stuff you can already get for free. No profit in that.

I honestly think Bethesda has looked at this from all the angles, and I think the Creator's Club is going to cost them a lot of money up front. They will be putting out money before mods are made, so they are banking on the fans' good will that they will buy these games.

I am one of the biggest Bethesda fans you'll meet, and while it may just be a coincidence, I like telling people that the male Sole Survivor is named after me. Yep, I'm Nate IRL. Well, I've never been to Boston and I've never been in the Army and I don't have a kid (and my wife's not a lawyer named Nora) but we share a first name at least. And that's cool. I also share a name with a guy whose games are only on PlayStation, you might have heard of a lesser known game series called Uncharted or something like that? Haha. But anyway, I will gladly support this if it's good. I do have a reservation, however I remain cautiously optimistic. Part of me worries that there will be some piece of paid content that is required to play certain mods, that ingrains itself into the scene and everyone needs it... if it's good, that's one thing. I don't know.

Also, aren't season pass holders entitled to everything Bethesda puts out for the game? Or was that just one season in 2016 and 2017 is a whole other story? Maybe they will make a second season pass. That does 2 things. One, it removes the stress of having to pay for everything individually. One price and whatever you want is yours for the taking. What should that cost? $30? $50? I don't know what would be fair. Second, it means that when the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. or Game of the Year edition drops, they can just include the second season pass, and long after everything's made its money, the mods would all be effectively free (this is assumed to be long after the ships have all sailed).

Glad i'm not the only one who thinks this...

I still remember when many multiplayer games had bots now it's all online only, always online and no lan or any sort of offline mp. Battlefront is the worst example, the series went from awesome to garbage with nice visuals, sadly visuals do not equel an awesome game when the gameplay and content / features suck, think of it like playing crysis without a campaign and only online.

Boring.

    • Maybe it's just my old-school soul talking, but I’ve always felt that games aren't 'real' games until they hit the PC. Leaving the PC community out at launch just doesn't sit right with me. That being said, I'm probably going to buy the PS5 just for the fun of trying it out.

    • Rockstar confirms Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders begin next week, unveils cover art by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The release date of Grand Theft Auto VI has moved quite a lot since its original announcement in 2023, but it finally looks like the game has found its final launch slot. Rockstar today had a new video upload on its YouTube channel, and while it wasn't a new trailer for the game, the company revealed two things. This was the pre-order kickoff date for Grand Theft Auto VI as well as the game's official cover art. The company revealed that June 25 is when fans of the series will be able to pre-order their copy of Grand Theft Auto VI. Pre-orders will be available both digitally and in retail stores. The newly unveiled cover art shows off the two new protagonists, as well as a few more characters that are probably vital to the campaign storyline. Shots of vehicles players can use like a light helicopter, motorcycle, sports car, and speed boat are also seen here, alongside a shot of a crocodile. "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them," says Rockstar describing the campaign's protagonist duo. "But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive." Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on November 19, 2026. A PC version has not been confirmed yet, though it's expected by many to land after the console release. When asked about this, the Take-Two CEO says it considers the core audience for the Grand Theft Auto franchise to be on consoles.
