Schueyeee
Hi All, Any idea whether McAfee VirusScan can be used for Windows 2003 Server OS? I chatted with a McAfee Support tech & they claim that they do not have any irus scan for W2K3 yet... :x Have any of you tried any virus scan yet? when I tried downloading McAfee Virus Scan it gives me an error stating that its an incompatible OS.. Any idea what could be done regarding this? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/133352-anti-virus-for-win-2003/ Share on other sites

+BudMan MVC Posted January 19, 2004 MVC Share Posted January 19, 2004 (edited) Well - first off whoever you talked to from Mcafee is wrong! Now keep in mind, they are NOT going to have some "HOME VERSION" of the software - and their home version most likely should NEVER support w2k3, but; But this is from the VS 7.1 install guide - looks like it supports it to me. Frank
I've been hearing more and more good things about the Trend Micro products... Might be worth looking into :ninja: Trend KICKS ASS! I have used them here for a year, and could not be happier. It took me 1 hour to set up on the server, and then roll out to all 50 workstations. The only thing I wish they would have changed is that they integrated the control panel for both workstations and servers, but hey, I guess everything cannot be perfect. The last company I worked at used trend also. They switched from Mcaffe to Trend, and the System Admin LOVED it. I have never heard a bad review for trend. Frank
Anyone got any luck in installing avast! antivirus in Win 2003? Tried the compatibility mode but it doesn't work... This is because it is a "Server" operating system. Not a workstation. If you want virus protection, you will have to spend the big bucks. Most corperate AV's don't sell single licenses, and if they do, it is expensive. dougkinzinger
Right on Fowen. If you're lucky, you can order one copy of McAfee (Network Associates) VirusScan Enterprise 7.1, which is the best out there, from PC Connection. I use it on my Server 2003 boxes. Great stuff.
