Microsoft Intellimouse Button Mapping

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of any software that allows you to assign keystrokes to the mouse buttons (specifically the thumb buttons) on a Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer?

Version 5 of Intellipoint removed the ability to assign Shift and Ctrl to the thumb buttons and they're very handy functions.

If anyone knows of any tool to do so, it'd be really useful if you could point me to it.

the 4.1 driver allowed mapping (and still does for my older wired intellimouse explorer) but it doesn't support the tilt scrolling of my new mouse (which I've fallen in love with)... all i'm looking for is a program intercepts the side buttons and gives them keyboard strokes instead...

would a macro program do this?

I didn't install any drivers for it because none came with it.

It auto installed as a standard MS mouse, how can I map the side buttons?

So... you're saying that you don't have IntelliPoint installed? If you install that program you can map all mouse buttons, etc.

Download IntelliPoint Here

If he has the new MS Opticle Mouse with the side scrolling he cant do that. If he has an older 1, stick with the 4.1 drivers.

Well he didn't mention Tilt so I assumed it was just as he said, a Wireless Intellimouse Explorer. He also mentioned that he had used previous drivers before. So yeah.

Bob Marley - IntelliPoint doesn't come with Windows. IntelliPoint is the driver+application for your mouse so you can customise certain keys to do a certain action as well as options for vertical scrolling if you don't have a Tilt mouse and some other features.
