[OFFICIAL] Gaming Setups Thread (PC & Console)

I guess I will follow the Halo 3 trend. I just like this ingame one better. :D Can't get the angle straight because of how small the room is, but you get the general idea. I also need to get a DVD holder. Oh yea and a PS3.

These suck because my only camera is the one on my phone. Anyway I didn't clean up like I said I would yesterday. I couldnt really be bothered. In amongst all the junk theres a Logitech Z5400, of which the control panel is atop the 360. Thats a 24 inch Benq FP241W. To its right is an iAudio X5 MP3 player which I'm using for audio atm since my PC's solution is less than satisfactory. The case is a Lian Li V2100B and like every great setup known to man theres a lavalamp next to the monitor.

Yeah theres a crap load of CD's, I'm currently re-ripping my collection. Those 2 piles account for 1 shelf worth of my collection. It's going to take some time.

I'm just about to get those logitech speakers got my 360. How are they? Whats your experience with them?

I like them, they seem to do a good job for me and connected via the optical cable do a good job, better than my previous X530 speakers. I cant compare them with the Z5500 but. Unfortunatly my integrated sound card isnt providing a clean output, it crackles a bit and thus why its connected to my mp3 player directly and the sounds clean and doesnt crackle or distort or anything. Same for the Xbox, it sounds very clean and good. All up I recommend them.

The subwoofer is pretty heavy so I turned it down as I'm not a big bass nut, but overall I'm quite happy with the package for the cost. I didnt really need the power of the Z5500 seeing as my rooms quite small and all.

My one complaint is the headphone jack on the unit isnt amplified from what I can tell. So to get a decent output you have to crank the sound. Not a huge issue but you would have to remember to turn them back down before unplugging the headphones otherwise you will have a very unhappy neighbourhood.

This is the monitor that i am wanting. I have been interested in a new monitor for awhile and i have been looking the Dell 2407WFP but my interest is more on the BenQ one you have. How good it is for PC & XBOX360? any ghosting or banding?

Yeah no issues that I can see with banding or ghosting. It's my 1st LCD so I havent got another to compare it too but it works very well. The only issues I've had are more software ones, like trying to get games actually running at 1900 x 1200. Ohh one thing, the monitor currently doesnt support 1:1 pixel mapping so the xbox video will be stretched from 1900x 1080 to 1900 x 1200. Not a big deal unless you find that 10% stretch to be too much. for DVD playback you can always use the PC as the software can force the ratio if you need be to. Apparently 1080p doesnt work over VGA but from what I've seen it all looks extremly crisp anyway and MS are apparently aware and fixing it seeing as the Dec update didnt fix the 1080p for all displays.

You may want to read this thread on hard forums, its long but theres probably more insight than I can offer you.

Needless to say I'm extremly happy with the display.

Thanks for that information. I did hear about the 1:1 Pixel mapping issue and BenQ are aware of it and releasing a firmware update of some kind. They are also bringing out a updated model of this monitor which is the Z version but i have no idea what is difference between the two. It is currently overpriced here in the UK and barely anywhere sells it (Overclockers ?705) which is far too much than i want to spend on a 24" when i can get the Dell 2407WFP from a power seller for ?465.

The WZ model includes BFI (black frame insertion) which inserts a black frame one in every 4 frames or something like that. In theory its supposed to reduce ghosting. Whether it works I dont know, I havent seen it. The later posts at that thread may mention it. Also the 2nd last page currently seems to suggest the WZ model will ship with the 1:1 pixel mapping issue solved where the W model will need to wait for a firmware update. I'm also unsure if existing customers will be allowed to get the firmware flash.

Unless theres other features besides BFI in the WZ it may not be worth it. I and many other people at that thread havent noticed ghosting so I'm unsure if it'd be worth the price premium.

I'm stretched so thin between the 3. i have been trying to get through:

Gears of War (360)

Resistance (PS3)

Zelda: TP (Wii)

FFXII (PS2/3)

Zelda has been getting most of my free time. But now that finals are over, and work (I work for a Jr. High) gets winter break in a week I will be able to play through most of the games. I'm in Act 5 on GoW, and past the first temple in Zelda, and like a few missions in on Resistance.

you can prob finish up GoW in 1 more sitting... so you should wrap that up so you can start on another game.... that was my problem when I picked up GoW, TH8, CoD3, NFS:C, and now RSV and havent touched any of them except GoW.

My setup

My setup... just took last night so ignore the christmas tree....

Hey, you go the same table thing as me. How did you get the knobs to attach to the door? For some reason, it's just a peice of glass and then 2 metal knobs. I don't know what to do except maybe put super glue on.

came that was from IKEA... i usually dont keep that glass thing on since all it does it trap heat in there... between the 360 and the cable box i can use those to heat the room

Ah, nice setup, beautiful looking screen. But, no offense, I think that wallpaper would give me a headache. :p

wallpaper on the wall??... its paint(but yes it is yellow...lol)... I moved there in July and just havent had time to really do much around the house....its never really bothered me before.

:o, very nice! Wish I had a setup like that.

    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • I have disabled it, but the app is still taking space. I have a Mac and it is only possible to disable Ai on that, but I think that bit does get rid of the AI components after a while.
