Electronic Arts has informed GameSpot that the Xbox version of Battlefield 1942 has been canceled. The company canceled the game so the development team could focus all its efforts on the upcoming expansion for the PC version of Battlefield 1942, The Road to Rome. Battlefield 1942 is a first-person shooter in which players can fight against each other on various maps based on well-known World War II battlegrounds.

This news is very old. In the past few weeks, it's been rumored that BF1942 is coming back to being released on Xbox as EA's first Live game.

As for you, RaGe-, don't go flaming the Xbox. It's dedicated to games, so don't compare it's specs to that of a PC. Have you even seen the Doom III pics running on Xbox () ??

ROFL! PWNED ! I was a fool to think EA would make a LIVE game.

EA WILL NEVER DO A XBOX LIVE GAME

The same pics that later on turned out to be PC grabs?

There's nothing to compare, it's a fact that the Xbox has 64mb of shared RAM, and another fact that most BF1942 maps are around 60mb, and that's not including vehicle/weapon/player textures, and the actual game code.
