ok yeah an i5 or even i3 would be plenty for him then for general Office/Web use. An i7 would just bolster the price unnecessarily in this case.

i'll look over a few towers from NewEgg and post back with a couple recommendations.

ok here's a few choices with a quick search on Newegg

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAE4N65R4446

first one is a Dell tower with a 7th gen i5, 8gb RAM and integrated graphics. this one is ~$720

I also found a couple other good looking towers that have a Dedicated Graphics card included while still being under $1000

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883221318

Asus 7th gen i5, 8gb ram and a GTX 1060. this is ~$899

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883101354

Acer R5 1400, 8gb ram and a GTX 1050 Ti. this is ~$790

Thank you for taking time out of your day to give me a few choices. All of those choices give me different price points for him. The Dell is a great option, I am going to check with him to see what kind of monitors he intended to drive; however that is an easy upgrade considering the price. The other two would take care of that OOTB. Thank you so much for doing this.

OK, ignore me...

Was that directed towards me? What did you want me to respond with? I didn't feel a reply was necessary, considering both Jim and Brandon essentially replied to you and had no trouble following what was said. :dizzy:

Dell Optiplex Small Form Factor would be perfect for this...

https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/desktop-and-all-in-one-pcs/optiplex-3050-small-form-factor/spd/optiplex-3050-desktop/cto01o3050sffus

i5, 16GB ram, 256GB SSD and that will drive 1 HDMI and 1 DisplayPort.

Thanks xendrome. I do like the Dell towers and from my personal experiences, their c/s has been pretty good. This gives me another option and I will add it to the mix. Ill see my friend this weekend.

I just built a new system and can give you the other one for $600.00

Lian Li Full Aluminum Mid Tower (I found this photo online), mine is exactly the same just with a 120mm Fan grill on the front bottom. Can put photos later when I get home.

Its i7 3700k, 16GB DDR3 2400 RAM, 600GB Raid 0 7200 RPM HD + 2 TB 7200 RPM Storage Drive + Nvidia GTX 570 + Creative blaster Audigy FX.

Let me know if interested.

Thank you for the offer, however, I am going to politely decline. He will be best off with an OEM build, that comes with a warranty or an extended that can be purchased. I totally understand a custom, piece by piece rig, can be cheaper and more powerful; however for him time is money and fiddling/diagnosing/repairing isn't something that interests him or myself at this current time. Nice rig.

Ex boss of mine bought one of these from that site not to long ago. Screamin' a** machine. Hasn't had any problems with it at all.

I've bought a few refurbished systems from that site for other people in the past and all are still running just fine.

hey if you're still looking check out the deal @Steven P. just posted on the main page :)

https://www.neowin.net/news/dell-xps-8910-core-i7-16gb-ddr4-tower-is-460-off-after-coupon-code

I just stumbled across that one. Any concerns with the specs? It is a traditional hard-drive, however, it is a 7200 rpm drive so at least that is nice. Any issues with a 6th gen i7 versus the 7th gen stuff from the first page of the thread? Seems to be a heck of a deal.

its a screaming deal i'd say; the only oddity i see is it uses 1 16gb ram stick but that's a non issue. Any i7 will work wonders even being a couple generations back.

+ it has a dedicated graphics AMD RX 560

damn good deal for $669.99 considering the tower normally sells for around $1100

That was posted on the front page. Does not have a SSD, but that wouldnt be to much to replace the PC with an SSD and would keep it under the $1000 price.

too late, bro :p Brandon beat you :)

Is it also possible to predetermine the 'Benchmarking score' beforehand ?
