Do what he said.

Then leave the file alone. If you can't delete it, it means its being used or you don't have permission.

if your on a windowsxp machine,

GOTO

start > run > cmd

then hit enter

then type in "ftp SERVERADDRESS" (without quotes)

then hit enter

then type in username and password when prompted

then type "cd THEDIRECTORY" (without quotes)

then type "delete .htaccess" (without quotes)

and voila, your done.
