Firefox doesn't load some speed test sites

I have a few speed test sites in my bookmarks that a while ago simply won't load in Firefox. Only extension I use is ublock origin. Actually, no browser that uses the same engine as Firefox will load the sites, but browsers based on Chrome's engine will. Any and all browsers I use are set up the same as far as ublock is concerned. Have tried disabling ublock in Firefox and changed the privacy settings from strict to standard and nothing, but sites still won't load.

 

Here are a few of those test sites:

http://speedtest.it.umich.edu/

http://speedtest.frontier.com/speedtest.html

https://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

 

As you can see, there are a couple secure and a couple non secure sites listed, so that's not the issue either. Anyone else have this issue or have a suggestion as to why those sites won't load the actual test? That second link is the only site that doesn't load anything at all, but the other sites do load the page, just not the test. FWIW, doesn't matter if I use Windows or Linux either.

Strange, but I successfully visited and ran the test on all 4 of the links, and I'm running Firefox 66.0.2 with uBlock installed, and not whitelisting those sites...

I guess I have to ask why as I can run test from speedtest.net with no problem?

My Linux setup is still on Firefox 66.0.1 but my Windows have 66.0.2 and those sites don't work on any of 8 machines! 3 Windows 10, 1 Windows 7 and 4 Linux setups! No matter what I've done, there are still a no go. Do you have an account at http://speedtestcustom.com/

The testers are just iframes with a *.speedtestcustom.com source so if you cannot access/are blocking that domain then it wont work.

 

speedtest.net does not use the same setup.

You don't need to register it's just a service all the links you posted use.

 

Check my screenshots, you can see it works when when i allow the speedtestcustom.com domain in NoScript.

when you say "won't load" is an error page showing instead? If so what does the page state?

 

It's sounding like they're blocked either at router level or perhaps by your ISP directly; I would recommend troubleshooting with your ISP since none of your devices on the network seem to be able to access the sites in question.

This is what I see on the Frontier test site. I see everything but the actual test. Only happens in Gecko based browsers.

Figured out the problem. I had over tweaked Firefox's setting in about:config by changing the default integer from 2 to 0 here, network.http.sendRefererHeader
