Hosting & domain questions..

Question

Hi

I have some plans with a friend for a new website for selling our 3D modelling services and saw that https://uk.godaddy.com/hosting offer some good services.

We are not very sure which direction should we go in terms of hosting and plan and here we'll need your support. We hope to have a very-custom website (by using their drag & drop tools) to present in the most professional way our portfolio.

We have these 2 options. Our focus is presenting our work and the contact form, nothing fancy.

1. https://uk.godaddy.com/hosting/web-hosting

2. https://uk.godaddy.com/hosting/wordpress-hosting

What do you think?

The general subject of "web hosting" probably has almost as much snake oil as "SEO"

In those areas, Google searchs are almost certainly destined to fail. Every possible thing you could think to search for has been already anticipated by the snake oil industry. "Reviews of web hosting" "top web hosters" and a million variations will produce garbage results.

One site (and seriously ONLY that one site) in my experience has very strict anti-snake-oil restrictions - "Web Hosting Talk" which is a forum: http://www.webhostingtalk.com

Asking here at Neowin, should also avoid snake oil.

Although more expensive, the top Cloud providers will always be trustworthy:

All that being said, my only recollection of GoDaddy was being unresponsive to any needs that did not fit their cookie-cutter approach.

Your current requirements appear to be minimal and easily handled by static delivery packages such as Gatsby or Hugo etc...

Most likely, depending on your exact situation, you can even deploy at zero cost per month to sites like Zeit:

Note that Gatsby/Zeit (and many other options) enables you to use a full React based site that can do just about anything at zero or low cost but "with great power comes great responsibility" so there is a learning curve there... Welcome to the modern age!

    • I'd rather just wait for the Snipping Tool update to officially roll out. If I can't wait I'd Just use ShareX from the Microsoft Store for the same functionality...
    • Ah so it's not in the .ISO it's self but it changes the definition in the OOBE update during setup?
    • They always have. This just updates what's included out of the box during the initial install.
    • So basically their prebuilding it into the ISOs?
    • Microsoft shares Defender anti-virus update for new Windows 11/10 ISOs by Sayan Sen Following the one for Lumma last month, Microsoft has also published a new Defender update for Windows 11/10/Server installation images this month. This update package is necessary as a Windows installation image may contain old, outdated anti-malware definitions and software binaries. Aside from better security, these updates can also provide improved performance benefits in some cases. When a new Windows installation is set up, there may be a temporary security risk due to outdated Microsoft Defender protection in the OS installation images. This happens because the antimalware software included in these images might not be up to date. Thus Microsoft says that these updated definitions essentially help close this protection gap. Microsoft delivered the latest security definitions for Windows images via security intelligence update version 1.431.54.0. The Defender package version is also the same. It applies to Windows 11, Windows 10 (Enterprise, Pro, and Home editions), Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server 2016. Microsoft writes: From Microsoft's security bulletin, we learn that the security intelligence update version 1.431.54.0 was released this past week adds threat detections for various backdoor exploits, trojans, among others. For those wondering, the latest intelligence update is version 1.431.155.0 at the time of writing.
