Microsoft will actually pay you £5 Xbox/Microsoft store credit for 5,850 points, you can collect as many points as you want and redeem as many store credits as you need to buy any game.

It's probably worth checking out https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftRewards/ as well to maximise your points per day.

Don't forget that you can also share points with family members, so get them getting points and have them send you the points over to your account. 
I'll be purchasing 12month xbox live using Microsoft rewards near the end of this month, thats about 4 months point collecting without family help. So you should be able to get the game quite quickly if you really put some effort in.

Highly recommend the Microsoft Rewards program. I have been using it for many years, and I've got Amazon gift cards, Xbox Live Gold (12 months), Game Pass, Microsoft/Xbox gift cards, and other things. 

Here in the US, it costs 4,650 points (for level 2) for a $5 Xbox Gift Card. I would bank points, and only redeem points when things go on sale (currently 3 months of Game Pass is on sale for 13,500 points). I got my 12 months of Gold for 24k points. It really only takes 3 months to save up points for the 12 months of Gold - just make sure you do all the daily set, all the searches, and download the Rewards app on Xbox for more points.
