Can anyone please help me to understand Dynamic QR code concept.

It is said that in Dynamic QR code , content changes......Does that mean the QR image that I see on screen is also changes ?  or  that QR image remains fixed but content changes ?

 Not familiar with it but if the content changes, so does the image. The only way around that would be linking to a webpage and *that* content changes.

I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to, but I can tell you that when using Google Authenticator and trying to pair it using MobileID the QR code changes every so often (every minute, perhaps).

So my answer would be that the QR code changes, not the content.

The content changes too. The content is used to form the image.

Fair enough. As I said, I wasn't entirely sure about the question being asked. What would "content" be? The content of the QR code? I would have thought that was static?

Yeah that’s what I figured too. Unless it links to a webpage with the same url and it’s content changes. I would think it needs to be to do that.

I'm guessing its a QR code that links to a redirector that can change where it redirects?

So the image never changes, it points to the same place, but that's just an intermediary step that forwards the client to the end result.  The intermediary step is what can be changed.

Turns out, I'm basically correct.

Okay.  image never changes then....fine.

so when you use a scanner to read this QR code , your scanner device will show you same content every time ?  yes/no ?

( scanner device cant redirect)

I'm still confused.

It shows a url that redirects to whatever. QR codes only show what they are encoded to show. They cannot show anything else without changing the image. You can change where the url goes to though.

Example. I have a redirect called foo.com. I make a QR code. It points to foo.com. Foo.com this week redirects to google.com. Next week, I’ll change it to redirect to bing.com. Foo.com didn’t change, so the image didn’t change.

The URL that's in the QR Code is the same.  But it links to a redirector that can be changed.

qrcode -> qr.redirect.com/[yourid] -> [your site]

ie:
qrcode -> qr.redirect.com/123 -> neowin.net
qrcode -> qr.redirect.com/123 -> neowin.com

So the QR code ALWAYS goes to qr.redirect.com/123 but you change where qr.redirect.com/123 goes to.

The QR code image never changes.

The QR code content never changes - it always links the client to a url, the same url every single time.

BUT

That URL is just a forwarder.  Like a url shortener it then sends the user on the the page that it is "CURRENTLY" meant to.

My bus "e-ticket" uses an animated QR code which changes every 2 - 3 seconds the scanner is faster than the changes so i am not sure what purpose it actually has.

An extra level of authentication.  You can't take a sreenshot and send to your mate.

How it redirects ?

Is it like this ?

a  person scans first with his scanner device and he found out that  it is  foo.com after scan ....he then opens chrome browser and typed foo.com and hit enter.

Pretty much. Then foo.com goes wherever it is set to.

what you are trying to say here , in simple words , is

if your content is a Link  then its a Dynamic QR Code.

if your content is Not a  Link ( but text only)  then its a Static QR Code.

Is it really the difference between Dynamic QR Code and Static QR Code ?

    • Because of these forums, I decided to give Linux a try a few years ago. I started with Fedora, bounced around to Ubuntu, Mint, and I've landed on PopOS! and I love it. Other than my son's Macbook and his Chromebook, everything in the house runs PopOS!. When I switched my mother over to it, I showed her where the email icon was, and how to get to her Facebook, and I haven't heard a complaint. Linux is far more usable than it once was. I have a dedicated laptop that I try different distros out on all the time, but mostly I reside in Pop. What I love is if I do run into a problem, there are so many forum resources out there to find answers. Most times the distro itself will have user forums that already have a fix for the issue I'm facing. People ditching Windows 10, should they choose to, should at least try Linux. It might not be for them, but if it is, they enter a completely new world of computing. Waiting in the wings will always be Windows 11 or a Mac should they choose that route.
    • The real trick is to make sure the funds go to the right people. Anyone remember the African "famine" of the 1980s/early 1990s? A lot of that was local warlords preventing people from getting food and aid. Thousands of tons of food sat in warehouses and spoiled/got eaten by rodents and untold numbers of innocents perished. Dictatorship and corruption and rot has to be rooted out or else his money is just going to make the wrong people very rich.
