I have 2 internal 2.5 Crucial MX500 SSDs. One for my OS and one for games. The Crucial software supports both over-provisioning and momentum caching. It seems however the caching is only supported on the OS drive. Does anyone know if I can enable it on my gaming drive. It certainly makes a difference as you can see by the numbers.

Per Crucial's FAQ...

"Enabling Momentum Cache is currently supported on the OS drive only."

I'm on my phone so can't go really in depth but I wouldn't use this (or Samsung's Rapid).  Your benchmarks might look great but in real world you probably won't know the difference. Also you have the potential for data loss, it wastes RAM (it's basically a RAM disk), etc.  Someone else can probably go further in depth of the concerns in using this "gimmick"

I was using Crucial's storage executive software. I did not know that about the cache but I did notice a difference at boot up and loading programs.

Unused RAM is wasted RAM.

If your computer has a battery backup and you have 16GB RAM or more, I absolutely recommend trying momentum cache and see if it makes a difference.
