i too am geting my orginal error and the fix of deleting the reg values is no longer working. I have trillian .72, norton antivirus 2002, true launch bar, coolmon .93, outlook 2002, ms desktop manager, and ie6 runnning all the time. i personally think it is an error in the program. let's all hope that matrox can figure it out. this is an excellent program without the bs. good luck matrox.

zip = 47906

ps if anyone has the beta 2 version that works...let me know where i can download it from. thanks!

I have searched the internet for instances of the error in question and have come up with a few possible explanations of it.

I'm sure thare are lots more, but here's a few possibilities.

weird how we're all having the problem now. i just checked weather.com to see if they were down or something :p but they weren't. i have other things that were listed in the VB and VB apps or whatever reg key and they all work fine. shrugs.

Thank you all for the bug reports. A wow was there a lot of them. I THINK I have fixed the problem. We shall see. Beta 2.3 is available for download. After fixing the bugs I also added Wind Direction display, and Barometer status display.

Also for you Neowin Forum fanatics I have created another lil app called Neowin Forum Checker. Get it at the very bottom of the website.

Yeah, working for me too, although 2.2 is working now too. It probably has to do with the time, so we may not know until late tonight if it is working.

As someone suggested earlier, a way to lock the program to the desktop would be cool. Also, its a little nit-picky, but the wind direction usually goes in frot of the speed, and if it didn't take up to much room, maybe and "@" could be put in between the direction and speed. This is a really stupid request on my part, but in the sake of abolute proffesionalism it would be cool. If you keep going with the improvements, you may have a marketable program... aaaaaah, forget I said that, FREE IS GOOD. Love the thing, great work.

EDIT: I tried the Forum Ckecker, it's cool, but it always opens to the default location, it doesn't remember where it is placed.

I just noticed a little bug, when changing from today to tonight, the high temperature remains from when it said today. If the program i restarted during the time when the first day is tonight, then there is no high temp. I found I was able to reproduce this by choosing a zipcode that still says "Today" (I used 90210, its the only one I know on the west coast:D ) and then changed back to my zip, east coast, and the high temp for tonight in the NE was 72, pretty good considering it is 30 and suppose to snow. :D

I am looking into the problem now. When you get this error and everything says N/A try going to weather.com and looking to see if they all say N/A there too. Let me know.

Future releases: I will release one more version that corrects this error when I find it. Then it will be a while before I release Beta 3. I hope to make Beta 3 using Microsoft.NET. This will require that you have the Microsoft.NET Framework installed. Moving to .NET will allow this application to become that much more stable and will allow me to use multiple threads. I am not gonna release Beta 3 until I have had it running on my machine for atleast one week with no problems. In the meantime, I would like to get these Weather pics fully transparent. If anyone can do this please let me know.

    • What I like about Paint is using it almost exclusively for cropping and resizing images I get elsewhere--it's quick, easy and cheap... I keep it glued to my taskbar, in fact. Also, the clipping tool comes in handy, as well (hit print scrn on the keyboard and it activates immediately.)
    • I still remember it fondly today. It was so cool to work in 64-color Half Bright mode and 4.096-color HAM mode (interlaced) when x86 was still in 4-color CGA or 16-color EGA low res. C= never realized what it had until it was far too late--the failure of C= was the failure of its top management. The C= Amiga was 20 years ahead of its time, I always thought. It didn't hurt that in only 512k of chip memory, the Amiga could preemptively multitask when Apple was still doing gray scale graphics on tiny screens and along with everyone else was doing cooperative multitasking (running more than one app at a time in resident memory, but you could only run one of them at a time--had to manually switch between them.) I had a ball with AREXX scripting running between programs that had AREXX ports so that when you sent other applications data and instructions, those running applications could process the same in real time to output! Memories...
    • I'm not sure about that, but it at least "does" a version of 7.1 that this brand new card doesn't....

    • I can barely recall getting web results from a file search... I must've turned it off long ago. 26H2 is Insider's Preview build 26300.8697, which I am running, atm. It is not available for people running the standard commercial builds of Windows--only for the beta test Insider's group. But anyway, as mentioned in the thread, this feature has been around for a long time...
