Service Control Manager Error

Recommended Posts

I'm getting this event error on bootup in win2003. Does anyone know what's causing this error or what's this service called in the Services window? And can someone explain what this service does and if it's ok to disable it.

This is the what it says in the Event Viewer:

  Quote
Event Type: Error

Event Source: Service Control Manager

Event Category: None

Event ID: 7000

Date:

Time:

User:

Computer:

Description:

The Parallel port driver service failed to start due to the following error:

The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

Thanks for any help.

it has happenned for a while, but since I don't reboot the server often, I never really looked into it. And the OS runs fine, I haven't noticed anything odd, except this message pops up everytime I boot up. I already have the latest drivers for my mobo. Since this is a problem with the parallel port, I wonder if disabling the parallel port in the device manager would solve this? I dont use the parallel port at all so should I just disable it? Any other suggestions??
