Welcome to the Mac OS Desktops thread!

 

Mac OS X Desktops are split into 4 threads over the course of a year to reduce clutter.
1Q - January through March.
2Q - April through June.
3Q - July through September.
4Q - October through December.

Posting Guidelines
- Embedded images should be smaller than or equal to 1440x900 (preferably 1024x768).
- The file size for image previews should be no larger than 750 KB.
- Images linked externally should be no larger than 3 MB.

- If you plan to img-embed your desktop, please try to keep it under 100k (It's recommended that you link it, externally).
- Stay within the board rules, no matter how yummy you may believe it to be.
- If you are going to quote, there isn't a need to quote an img-embeded picture - Just don't do it. Please just reference the post by page number/page link/etc.
- The desktops thread is not to be used as a means to post images of a pornographic or otherwise provocative nature. We do not support a babes forum and neither will we in an unofficial capacity. Please help to keep the thread relevant and safe to browse for everyone.
- The moderators of this forum reserve the right to edit or remove your posts as necessary so they may comply with our Community Rules and so that the thread remains on topic.

In the interests of keeping the thread on topic it is strongly urged that you format your posts in the following order:
- Themes: Name/where you got it (with link would be nice).
- Wallpaper: Name/where you got it (with link would be nice).
- Icons: Name/where you got it (with link would be nice).
- Programs: Name/where you got it (with link would be nice).

For finding mystery wallpapers, consider using Google Images Reverse Search or Tineye.
Please use reduced-size thumbnails, where possible, out of respect for people running on lower bandwidth or screen resolutions.
Any image posted that is over established guidelines will be removed! Use a thumbnail or use a text link to your image. If your image is removed, this is why.

There was a query in the last thread about the folder icons, afaik they are the new ones, this is my old catalina desktop from the previous thread and the icons are a lot more square. My VMware is borked in Big Sur or I'd throw up a VM and do a proper dive. Hope this makes sense :)

@forster I can see that I need to up my game .. the dark ones look hella nice. Thank you for sharing. I only made the default - bright mode folder.

I have much work to be done. There's no indication that LiteIcon might work on macOS 11 as far as I'm aware so I might not proceed.

Oooo I didnt know about LiteIcon, my fave icons ever are the old Bluecurve icons from Fedora/XP back in the day. Personally i think out of the two defaults Id rather the old Catalina squared off icons, but its probably just a matter of time before the new ones click. They just look like cheap knock off mac icons to me at this point!

@forster yeah, that's unfortunate about LiteIcon - although in the past the author was kind enough to spend some time writing back if there was an indication of LiteIcon working with Catalina as an example. It's of course very early and the author might now have given that app a thought just yet. I however hope he has. At this point I'm afraid to ask.

I've also been fond of the Bluecurve icons or the Tango icons. There's many iconsets that are classic - even the folders of Amiga GlowIcons are up there - that last statement is because of my history with AmigaOS :) I can't let that OS go - not in my mind and certainly not in my heart.

Here's my desktop.. nothing major. Finished? the drive last night - I'm only doing all this as a way to have a handle of things so that I can make a dark drive as with my other Catalina harddisk icons and as an exercise. The same goes for the folder icons - I have the process still of adding the symbols on the folders - I wanted a glimpse of how Apple could have made changes to the various styles
In an essence, I have nothing better to do 😛

I do like those icons... lets hope something pushes to Big Sur soon to let us update as we see fit, Ill keep an eye out for more of your posts :)

      Microsoft will soon allow some users to block Copilot from analyzing their Office files by Usama Jawad Microsoft Purview is a pretty useful data governance, security, and management service that allows customers to gain enhanced visibility and control over their content. It's meant for commercial customers, such as organizations that are storing data at scale. As AI continues to expand and infiltrate every corner of a firm, many are a bit conscious about the technology gaining access to their confidential data. Microsoft is now making a configuration change that will allow such customers to rest easy. Right now, users within an organization have the option to apply Purview sensitivity labels (when available) to secure certain files and label them as such. For example, if you apply the "Confidential" label on an Excel file, the file will be encrypted, and a "confidential" watermark will be applied to it. So, if this file is shared with anyone, they are aware that its access is supposed to be restricted. Up until now, Microsoft was allowing some connected experiences, like its AI services, to analyze files, regardless of their sensitivity label. This is of major concern to most organizations, as a recent example highlighted how confidential emails with data loss prevention (DLP) policies like privacy labels were being uploaded to Copilot for analysis. As such, Microsoft is updating an existing Purview data label sensitivity setting that prevents "some connected experiences that analyze content", from being blocked completely from doing this. The label isn't changing, but the blocking is now being enforced across all connected services (including Copilot and other AI tools), and now extends to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Files with the label applied already will get this enhancement automatically too once it becomes available. Microsoft has urged IT admins to inform their respective helpdesk and compliance teams, update internal documentation, and review sensitivity labels to ensure that they meet their respective compliance needs. This change is tagged as MC1297982 in the Message Center. General availability is scheduled to begin in a phased manner soon and will complete by the end of next month. That said, it is important to note that this only applies to commercial customers who have a license that allows them to use Purview.
